Can't say I'm surprised it happened. Surprised it took this long though.

OSU must not have have thought that they could damage control this situation.

I'll be interested to see that SI article...when it breaks someone post it here.

Brian Kelly can now rape the state of Ohio though for recruiting.

I've heard the name "Urban Meyer" at least 5 times since I've been up this afternoon.

The absolute bile frothing from the mouths of everyone who ISN'T a Buckeyes fan would be absolutely toxic if that were to happen...

      I hope it does

      On-topic: Tressel had it coming.

Statistically, his head was on the chopping block due to almost all the coaches before him being fired when they were in a similar situation.

I'd laugh my ass off if OSU did that. Replacing Tressel with a guy whose players are virtually guaranteed to get arrested in large numbers

          lol

All the shit catches up to the sweater.

Never thought he'd succumb to this, but it's good to see OSU have to go through some hurt for apparently blatantly disregarding the rules.

This is great news. Now Mark Richt will really feel the heat with ole sweater vest sitting out there waiting for a new job in 2012.

they went to town on Reggie Bush long after he was gone too.

The NCAA would rather whitewash their troubles than face them directly. it's almost always in their best interests to be able to say "x amount of players were punished for y amount of hours as a result of this investigation". basically OSU suspended him so when they went to the NCAA they could say "if you are going to stick it up my ass, please at least use some lube"

Tressel had to fall on the sword, which, if he was a successful coach at a shitty school, he wouldnt necessarily have to do. OSU being the football factory it is had a little more flex here. I'm surprised at the timing, but i'm looking forward to reading this article. Tressel will go to an essentially non BCS school and make their boosters very happy

Well, this saga is finally over. Sad that perhaps one of the greatest decades in OSU football history has come to an end, but at the end of the day its best for the University and the program if we move on.

Tressel is done as a coach. I don't know what you guys are talking about with him coaching elsewhere... he's said in the past he doesn't want to coach past 60 (He's 58), he doesn't want to be a lifer. Adding onto this he's probably going to get hit with a show-cause penalty or something along those lines.

At the end of the day though, granted, he committed major NCAA violations, but you can't question his loyalty. He fell on the sword for Ohio State, and I am very thankful to him for that.

Thank you for a great 10 years coach. You gave me my favorite sports memory of my life when we won that National Championship, and you were a great ambassador for the University and a molder of men.

First, that whole post makes me want to fucking puke.

Second, the refs gave you the Championship on an atrocious PI call. Tressel didn't do shit.

                        Oh cut the shit.

We've rehashed the PI call more times than I can count. It happened. It's been verified as a good call repeatedly. Grow up and get over it. The crystal ball from 2002 isn't leaving Columbus.

                                When was Heyward suspended?

unless you are thinking about Solomon Thomas.
