If thats the case, then I say the 1988 LA Raiders are the best team of all-time.

      And still lost.

((p.s 93 fwiw Cowboys were a better and more talented team))
Never quite got why people say the 92 team was so great and leave out the 93 team. They humiliated the 49ers in the NFCCG (The real Super Bowl at the time) and put zero effort into the first half against Buffalo and still ended up rolling them in XXVIII.

Same exact group of guys, just happened to actually win home field in the NFC that year.

So you're telling me that if you had two of the best teams of all time playing during the same season...the team that eventually missed/lost the SB wouldn't be in the top 10?

Not saying any team meets this criteria. But it should still be possible to be a top 10 team w/o winning a ring.

95 Steelers had as much talent as most teams on the list. Dick Lebeau ,2 hof caliber players and at least 5 pb caliber guys on opening day.
Against a 95 team without Turner at oc , without Harper/Stepnoski/Gogan and a post injury Erik Williams. They still played 8 in the box.

            Ft already addressed 85.

There is a significant gap between bears/cowboys running backs and the rest.
Best reason to have a license.

              Defensively, at least.

Yes on defense. But Neil yancey and bam were the next triplets.

Their only loss was in the Super Bowl.. and even then it took a dropped pick and a miracle catch to help knock them out.

I see your point, but I would still take the 07' Pats against most of the teams in this top 10 list. For most of that season you'd be lucky to stay within 3 touchdowns of them.

The 85 Bears vs. the 07' Pats would be one fun matchup to dream up though.

And just imagine if those Pats had any sort of running game.

The 2007 Pats IMO should be ranked here. Them losing one game, albeit the Super Bowl, doesn't make them any worse of a team talent-wise.

Yancy Thigpen was the NFL's answer to Bret Saberhagen. He would have a good season every other year.

I think it's how they lost, supposedly unstoppable offense held to 14 points by the 10-6 giants.

Maroney, Morris, and Faulk combined for like 1600 yards and 9 TD's.

Besides, you don't need much of a running game when you score 50 TD's through the air.

Only six of their 16 wins were within 20 points.

A majority of those rushing yards were gained during garbage time when they were up by 30.

I don't deny the 07 Pats were a great team, but they didn't get the job done. Fluke catch or not, a truly great team would never have let the Giants be close enough to win with a fluke catch. A truly great team (like the 92 Cowboys) rips out your jugular and never lets you win by fluke. The Patriots choked, pure and simple, and for that reason do not belong on a top 10 list.

The Patriots didn't lose because they didn't have a running game. They lost because they couldn't protect their damn QB. The Giants' D-Line owned that game.
