Pats to Cut Haynesworth or Ocho

An NFL executive "familiar with the Patriots ways" has told the National Football Post he expects New England to cut "one or both" of Albert Haynesworth and Chad Ochocinco before the regular season begins.
The source believes Patriots HC Bill Belichick will "use the controversial players to help control and send a message to his locker room." Haynesworth has just a $1.5 million base salary this season, while Ochocinco is making $1 million. Haynesworth is the more likely of the two to be cut, but the odds don't seem particularly high either is gone before Week 1.

    What the fuck?

Oh, it says a guy expects it, not that he knows it will happen.

    Cuts or GTFO.

I just read it and thought it was funny with all the talk about how great they are doing. Now I dont care if Haynesworth gets cut, but I'd to see Ocho with a real shot at a ring.

seems like a bad move either way. how is cutting either one going to send a message? neither one has any tenure with the pats so its not like they would be cutting Malloy or something. plus if Hansworth got cut i think most would chalk it up as a carry over from his redskins ending and wouldnt give it a second thought.

Both are making very low salaries and both have talent. seems like having them on the roster is a win for the pats

EDIT the more i think about this i have to say that whoever this retard is thats supposedly quoting a source close to the team...is full of shit and creating a story where there isnt one. The media was bad enough before the explosion of the internet and social media....but now a days there are 9 million worthless bloggers out there trying to make a name in a flooded profession

          Media = Terrorism

Both players restructured their deals and took pay cuts... BB has never restructured a contract and then cut the player the same season.. lol @ this jabroni's article. I am with Maynard... the guy had nothin to write about so came up with this garbage. Lets not forget the way BB collects draft picks he wouldn't just trade for these guys with an intention of sending his players a message.. what message do they need? Their backups came out and blew out their opponent in the first pre-season game.

                    It won't happen.

Anyways, what message would they be sending. Didn't the Patriots just pay Ocho 4.5 million? Would that message be "We like to bring in good players, pay them 4-5 mil, and then cut them before they even play a regular season snap for us."?

I sure as hell don't see Haynesworth getting cut. The source who said this is just bonehead stupid. It should be ignored because it doesn't make the least bit of sense.

thats where I read that and here is what Yardbarker said

According to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston, when the New England Patriots restructured the contracts of both defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth and wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, it gave the Patriots the ability to release either player with a very minimal financial loss due to a low amount of bonus money in their new deals.

Dan Pompei of the National Football Post has indicated that an NFL executive that he’s spoken with believes either one or both Haynesworth and Ochocinco could possibly be released before the regular season begins.

Depending on whether or not Haynesworth can stay healthy and produce on the field, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Patriots did end up releasing him before the season begins.

On the other hand I don’t believe it would make sense to part ways with Ochocinco since the Patriots don’t have a number one receiver. I know they can do a lot with their two tight end sets. But let’s be honest, teams will figure out a way to shut their passing game down without a legitimate go to receiver. I know you can argue that Wes Welker is a go to guy. He is able to make plays when they’re needed. But let’s be honest, he’s not a true number one receiver. He’s simply a great complimentary player.

The thing that makes Tom Brady such an amazing quarterback is that he distributes the ball so well. he gets the most out of his guys, and the recieving numbers of his players are very close together I had to go take a look at the stats here.

this is incredible. look at how even the yardage distribution is. Tom Brady doesn't really need a "number one reciever". (more on this in a moment) Even still, Wes Welker had 87 catches last year. I don't know how you get more "number one" than 87 catches.

Taking a look at a few other teams with quality QBs:

                        Packers:

Greg Jennings is the fucking man. incredible YPC, impressive yardage totals. but still caught less balls than Welker, and there was a significant drop-off from Jennings to the other guys. Crazy to look at how Driver's play has dropped off.

It's almost apples and oranges to compare the two teams, but just for arguments sake, ok, so Reggie Wayne is "true number one". That's the colts though. theres practically no comparison between the coaching philosophies of those two teams. In other words.... Manning needs a true number one. Tom Brady doesn't.

NO gets by without a "true number one" pretty well too. Colston is probably the best comparison to Welker, and you never hear anything about how the Saint's are desperate for recievers, or are in danger of being figured out, or how the team is hamstrung by its wideouts.

Now here's a team that really needs some fucking help at reciever. How Phillip Rivers threw for 4700 yards with this kind of shit production I don't know. I guess that's just a testament to how good the guy is. Anyway, if theres a team that your argument applies to, it's SD. that offense is smoke and mirrors.

New England on the other hand is going to be fine with or without Chad Johnson.

Anyway, this report is like alot of the "news" these days, where it's just some guy guessing something and it's being reported as some kind of scoop. it's somebody throwing shit up against the wall who will look good if it sticks and if it doesn't, nobody will remember because nobody really cares that much.

The rumors were heavy on Moss getting cut before the 07 season as someone already stated... They leaked this bad rumor themselves because they feel they could get some kind of advantage out of it.
