u guys can argue the rule with me all day if you want. its pointless though. I didnt make the rule and i dont always agree with it. I am just explainign why there was a flag and will probably be a fine.

Its the rules. its no different then a offside penalty (except the fine of course) The NFL is trying to get rid of this kind of shit.

Were talking split seconds here, Moore did his job. And did it correctly.
in this case i think he could have went low. There was a play last year where whats his name for the steelers got flagged for a hit on Josh Cribbs to the head. Cribbs was sliding in a downward motion and the hit to the head was totally unintentional. Nothing could be done to avoid it and the flag was BS...and im a browns fan

This hit by Moore was to a leaping WR who was in a classic defenseless position. The DB came in high leading with his shoulder and absolutely crushed the WR. It is in the rules and the NFL has gone above and beyond to make players aware of this and told them not to do it. Its not like they dont know. The NFL is trying to train these guys to think about how they are hitting and create changes for the future. This is to protect the the other guy and also the player himself.

thats the NFL company line....now the truth.....

the nfl is simply trying to avoid the bad press and potential lawsuits. Not only that but the extremely high cost of medical bills and the pressure from the insurance companies. Remember, the nfl is paying a premium to insurance companies to cover these players. Think about how your cost of insurance thru work has increased and how much pressure the insurance companies apply to avoid paying medical costs. Now imagine what its like for the NFL.

They dont really care about player safety....they care about money

Boo fuckin hoo. When you put on the pads and get paid shitloads of money, you know you are risking your health. Tom Waddle, Ed McCaffery, and Don Beebe all got their asses handed to them on hits just like this. I don't know about the other two, but Tom Waddle is a successful sports anchor in Chicago. You don't want to wreck your brain, don't play the game.

This shit isn't football anymore, it's Retarded Logicball.

P.S. @ Aso, lets see you stop about .75 seconds before you lay someone out going full speed because you saw the ball get bobbled. The most Moore saw of that ball was the two hands Jones put on it.
Stop acting like he couldn't avoid this. For one you're taught not to launch yourself as a defender. That's a wrong right there. Moore's feet should have never left the ground. He should have kept his feet on the ground with his head up.

Second, there are definitely ways of breaking your fall and if there isn't, like the above says, you're doing something wrong in the first place.

It deserves a fine and it is illegal under the current rules. This you cannot argue. If he would have hit him using proper technique this wouldn't even be an issue.

What a thug. I bet he had Lil Wayne mic'd up in his helmet while making that hit.

I think the NFL should implement the laws of physics from the Matrix, so that a dude can change his direction after he has already put his body in motion to make a tackle/hit.

While I agree that the players should know what they are getting into. Nothing is stopping the retired players and their families from suing. I'm also pretty sure the NFL would get laughed at in court if their main defense was the players should have known the risks.

Have you ever played organized football? Shit is happening in split seconds. You react and hit how you have been instructed your whole like. This whole player safety bullshit, while good, is asking players to completely change what they have been taught their whole life. A player is supposed to allow you to catch a ball, aiming for the waist and not the chest for the sake of not making incidental H2H contact? GTFOH.

I will politely disagree with anyone here who says that Moore could have changed what he was doing. He was the safety responsible for his half. His job was to prevent the catch, and he did. He did as taught too, lead with the shoulder, and separate player from ball. How was he supposed to know the WR wasnt going to do his job and drop the ball? He didnt.

Oh, and I get that its illegal NOW. Im arguing that this was a clean hit by our standards, not by NFL's standards.

Yeah, Newton, trajectory, and defying the laws of gravity are simple things to overcome. How silly of us guys.

I'm sure Newton's second law of motion is in the mind of every NFL defensive back.

Looked like a clean attempt of a hit that ended badly. But my question is....isn't this a preseason game? Is there any need for you to try and kill a defenseless WR in preseason? I think that is why all the Bills players are pissed and the fact that he is kneeling over him probably talking shit.
