It's because of the morons who were casual NFL fans until a few years ago when Fantasy became so easy that even girls could play. They need their coverage spoon fed to them.

It's okay though because MLB Network shits on ESPN and NFL Network combined.

You don't like hearing the weekly BigBucs halftime update at 3:45 ET?

Halftime update of the 1999 NFC Championship...it's 5-3 Rams but the Bucs have 'em on the ropes thanks to rookie stud Shaun King!

Same reason I barely watched any sports coverage from the end of the NBA finals - > end of the lockout.

ESPN is shit no doubt but it's on these other sports to step their game up and command attention. If people cared about baseball preseason games wouldn't be a bigger deal than pennant races.

It's not that people don't care about baseball, it's that far more people care about football and ratings is all ESPN care about.

They do not (and if this thread isn't proof, I don't know what is) give a flying fuck about providing the consumer with the best total sports coverage. They do care about putting on whatever is going to get the most eyes glued on their screens.

So if talking about the preseason generates more money for them, they will fucking do it.

Much like how TSN (ESPN partly owned) will spend 75% of their SportsCentre broadcasts talking hockey. It's what gets the most viewers.

The concept of providing "total sports coverage" by the ESPN machine is a fuckin myth.

                  Stop paying for TV.

Yeah when I say people don't care about baseball I mean relative to football. Which again is obv why ESPN rolls with the football coverage.

It goes with the same Red Sox/Yankees deal.

You say "PEOPLE ONLY CARE ABOUT THOSE TWO TEAMS" but if you only show those 2 teams of course people are only going to care about them.

ESPN did not start bending over for the NFL to this extent until NFL Network came into play.

People don't care about the NFL preseason. Half empty stadiums and season ticket holders yearly battles trying to avoid being forced to pay for those two games is the first clue. These games used to be back segment stuff. ESPN treats it like a big deal to appease Lord Goddell, for obvious reasons. Dramatic music, "experts" on set to break it down, live remotes....cmon. Its just all so silly.

Does it seem worse this year than previous ones?
