I don't see how a 50-year old Kerry Collins off of the street represents a significant upgrade over the two QB's that have been in camp all off season long taking all of the reps.

Looks like a PR move to comfort some fans by bringing in a 'name' player.

          All off-season...you mean 3 weeks?

Not to mention that Curtis Painter has never even looked good in cleanup duty. I mean them bringing in Collins shows what they really think of the guys they have on their roster. I guarantee he's not coming out of retirement to backup Nate Davis or Dan Orvlowski

Have you ever watched Curtis Painter play? If you dont think Kerry Collins is a massive upgrade I suggest you pop in some Curtis Painter tape and remind yourself. Kerry was starting in the league last year, this is a massive upgrade to a team that hasnt had a good back-up QB in what seems like decades.

Collins can still play a little bit if he receives good protection. His downfield arm is completely shot though.

It's a good move for the Colts. Not sure how long Collins would last as the starter though. Seems like Manning's pocket presence and quick release have made the Colts OL look better than it actually is.

I don't see how Curtis Painter is the 2nd string QB, he is god awful, I can probably do better .

Either way if its because Manning is expected to miss a week or two or not Collins is very good pickup, look what he did filling in for VY with NO WR, now throw in Wayne, Collie, Gonzo, Garcon, and oh year Clark and Tamme. Collins probably got a boner the minute he saw his caller ID

What did Collins do exactly? Besides that one year where the run game and defense carried his bum ass Collins was horrible as a Titan.

                        The stats don't lie.

                          good pick up.

I do however think this has more to do with appeasing the masses than actually solving the fundamental problem.

I still think Manning plays week 1, even if he's only at 75%

Kenny Britt bailed his ass out against Philadelphia. And he had good protection + the best RB in the game to ease the pressure from the defense.

In Indy, he might have all those weapons to throw to, but his line is awful and his slow release makes it hard for him to really succeed there. If he somehow can get good protection, then he'll be a nice stop-gap until Manning is ready.

He shits all over the rest of the Colts' quarterbacks though.

Can't believe Indy signed Collins to start the first 6 games.
