It's not a PR move cause Polian is an asshole and wouldn't do that. And I doubt Isray would make him, and Caldwell prolly has no say at all.

I agree that he's not a significant upgrade. I mean he's obviously better than Painter but I doubt he'll come in and make that big of a difference.

He's not Curtis Painter, so thank the lord. I'm pretty sure Curtis Painter's career QB Rating could qualify as an ERA in baseball.

idk but I'm almost inclined to think that's exactly what it is.

Irsay has been going off recently with the twitter account, and even though this doesn't fit Bill Polian specifically, we all know Chris Polian is taking more and more responsibility.

A lot of people are already blaming the Jerry Hughes debacle on Chris Polian.

A really awful ERA, but that could qualify.

Kerry might get you 3-3 where Painter couldve magically lead them to 1-5. How many qbs can see they threw for 40,000 yards on the NFL level?

                1. Tom Brady (89,214), 2. Drew Brees (80,358), 3. Peyton Manning (71,940), 4. Brett Favre (71,838), 5. Ben Roethlisberger (64,088),

He's 11th all time in passing yardage.

He shits all over the rest of the Colts' quarterbacks though.
who cares who bailed his ass out, thats like saying Dwight Clark bailed Montana out on that TD drive in the super bowl. He's still an upgrade over those fuckers. (like you said)

who cares he was doing better then Vince when they benched his ass and all he has to do is keep the Colts "in it" while Manning is out. (If he even is)

                      Reggie Wayne doesn't like it:

“We don’t even know him, we ain’t vanilla, man, we ain’t no simple offense,” receiver Reggie Wayne said. “So for him to can come in here and be the starter, I don’t see it. I think that’s a step back.”
“Who says Kerry’s going to be the starter?” Wayne said. “Just because we bring him in doesn’t mean he’s the starter. He’s got to learn too, right? Unless they gave him a playbook months ago, he’s got to learn to.
“I don’t care who you are, I mean I’m not going to let anyone just come in here and just push someone (like Painter) aside like you’re that dog now, you know what I mean?” Wayne added.
Vanilla offense with Collins, or (somewhat close) to reg offense with Painter. SMH

                        Wayne gets it.

People think this is Madden, where you can just sign up the 77 OVR Collins to replace the 59 OVR Painter, stick him in the lineup, and you are automatically better. The real NFL doesn't work this way.

Painter knows the offense, Collins doesn't. Collins is 40 years old and presumably out of shape. Painter and the other backups have been building chemistry with the current WR's for a month.

They will have to dumb things down for Collins, he has no time to catch up. Plus, he isn't very good anyway.

Wouldn't shock me one bit if Collins doesn't even end up starting. Not a significant upgrade.

You can ask anyone on here I've been shitting on Painter relentlessly since the Colts drafted him. I hated dude all the way back to when he was at Purdue. But I guarantee you dude at least knows the playbook.

He's not going to be at the line doing a bunch of audibles and throwing TDs, but in terms of familiarity with the other players and the playbook it's not close between him and Collins.

It's basically a a pick your poison between shit QB who knows what he's doing, and mediocre QB who's completely new to everything.

You're kidding yourself if you think the offense under Kerry Collins would be more vanilla than the one under Curtis Painter. Painter deserves to be a practice squad QB. If Manning goes down and Painter steps in they are losing every game because Painter is that damn bad. I doubt they'd even be able to average double digit points a game on offense.

In NFL history, there have been QB's who have stepped in and learned enough in 1 week to be able to run an NFL offense. Kerry Collins has been in the league almost 20 years, been in all sorts of offenses. He'll be able to pick it up. I know this isn't Madden but your making it out to be more than it is.

You're out of your mind if you don't think Kerry Collins is a significant upgrade over Curtis Painter. I'm not trying to say Collins is great, but the offense would look respectable under him at the very least vs the disaster it would look like under Painter.

Wayne is just blowing hot air and he does not get it. If management thinks this is best then he should shut his mouth and just go out and do his job. If it bothers him that much, talk to people in your organization. No reason to talk like this publicly.

I still think Manning is going to start week 1 if he's over 70%. Collins is a decent guy to bring in but he would get his old ass killed behind our line.
