I would say the teams needs in the draft/FA (huh, Thompson spend money? Ha!) are as follows:

1)LT- Self explanatory, I think Clifton is done, he's a backup, no way can he hold up 16 games, or even 8 games now. Besides Clifton, there are NO other viable options, unless you really think (Clubber) Lang has any potential to survive there. They may have to do another Bruce Wilkerson option (LT for most of the '96 season) and just give into another aging vet, somebody like Tra Thomas (which is probably an upgrade compared to last year). If they draft, they better be spot on, because they NEED someone this year to play now.

2)RT- At least they have "options" from what the team is saying, even though they are crap. Lang, Giacomini, and Barbre have a shot, but I think I've seen enough from them to call them trash. Who knows though, I could be wrong.

3)CB- Al Harris was showing his age before the injury. Had some great seasons prior, but ever since his spleen injury, just wasn't the same. If he can come back and play, great. But I don't think he'll ever be close to what he was before the injury. I think Tramon Williams is a viable starter in the NFL. While they have some younger options, I think this team should compete again for the playoffs next year, and they should invest in a veteran CB.

4)P-I'm still baffled in why they dropped Jon Ryan.

5)LG- They should ditch Colledge, move Spitz over, Wells at C. Simple as that. If they still want Spitz at center, then this becomes more of a need.

6)Safety- Never been a big fan of Atari Bigby. I think he's too slow in their system. He's a stop gap for right now, but they should look now for his future replacement. Might be the best draft in a while for safeties.

7)DE/DT-They just need depth, whether that comes from Harrell finally playing, or getting another veteran. They're a court case and one injury away from being in trouble.

        LT and RT yes.

As for Harris, I don't think you could be more off. Harris was playing awesome this season up until he ripped up his knee. I think we will go ahead and stick with Colledge he hasn't been absolutely terrible.

I don't think Bigby is that great either but when he's out our defense suffers incredibly.

He was playing alright, but definitely not anywhere close to what he was playing 3-4 years ago, or even before the spleen injury. Now he's just demolished his knee. He's 35. I have no expectation of him being anywhere close to where he was before the injury. If he can come back, great, but I still think the team needs to invest in a viable 3rd CB.

Well, of course, especially if you're talking about putting somebody like Derrick Martin or, even worse, Jarrett Bush/Matt Giordano at safety. I still don't understand the entire Aaron Rouse/Anthony Smith fuck-up to start the season. Despite his flaws, having Anthony Smith might have changed that first Vikings game, and maybe the Steelers game.

I haven't *saved* a life, but done plenty to make sure they get better. What's new with you?

Good point abj, there was definitely something "in house" with Anthony Smith as to why we cut him. There was absolutely no reason to cut him and keep some of the bums we have playing as our dime backs.

Bush and Martin are good ST guys but they don't deserve a spot on the field when it comes to play defense.

Hey abj, glad to have you back. We may disagree on some things, but I respect your unselfishness and compassion for others. I think you're one of the very best MM and VSN ever had.

Harris is a workout warrior and highly motivated. For some reason, I think he will make it back and be productive. Maybe even as a starter, but I wouldn't count on him starting.

Be interesting to see what Jackson can do tomorrow. Should determine how hard we push for a guy like Lynch.

If bulaga plays well we won't be seeing Clifton again. If Bulaga struggles we will definitely see clifton.

Going to be a very tough game for Bulaga. He'll be matched up with Peppers for a majority of the game. It will be a true test for him and hopefully he passes.

I fucking HATE the Bears so if they beat us, I'm not sure what I'll do with myself. Tailgating at Lambeau at about 2PM central. Should be amazing.

p.s. If you ever tailgate at Lambeau, go to the "Don't be a Boob" ambulance. It's for breast cancer awareness and chicks basically just go up to the ambulance and flash the entire crowd. Good times...

No excuse for the Packers not winning last night. The Bears tried to hand them the game and they just refused to take it. Why was McCarthy hell bent on playing the spread offense when the Bears were only rushing 4 and dropping into soft zone coverage? They should have at least tried a few more running plays out of pass formation to draw the coverage tighter to the line of scrimmage.

                        The Bears still suck.

I think the division will come down to the Packers and Vikings. The Bears will fade down the stretch and the Vikings will make a run when Sidney Rice returns for the last half of the season.

The Special Teams coach should be running sprints right along side the players. Hester came within a shoelace tackle by the punter from breaking a TD on the first one. The second kick to him was just stupid
