Not really. Aside from other "sidebar" arguments, such as player focus issues and the large amounts of money made by minor league hockey players, both you and Vlade Diivox advocated that the players aren't paid by the school, but are free to make their own arrangements for getting paid by boosters and companies. That is an absolutely terrible idea. Who would have control over the players? What would stop a player from jumping from school to school on a weekly basis, just going to the highest bidder?

Diivox is suggesting that it's possible to get a education free scholarship. I almost got a headache trying to make sense of it.
Scholarship probably wasnt the best word to use there. All I'm saying is, if a player says "fuck it, i just want to focus on my sports" he should be able to get paid and not have to go to class. There doesnt need to be an academic whitewash to star players, because everyone knows they arent there for a degree, they are there prepping for the NFL, and the NCAA gave them the "scholarship" as some kind of retarded justification for the obscene amounts of money they make. "End the charade".

          +1 for the Vlade reference

Do you really think this isnt happening now? Obviously players cant transfer from school to school willy nilly like that, but you really beleive that star players arent ALREADY going to the highest bidder? be it actual cash under the table, be it the cozy accomodations, be it the schools reputation for producing NFL players, favors to the family from boosters, "loaned" motor vehicles... Theres dirt underneath the fingernails of practically every major football factory/fat tv contract school in the nation.

Regardless of what you think about my suggestion, I think we can all agree that the system is a hypocritical sham and needs to be changed. I'd be interested to see what your suggestion to solve the problem is, since you're kind of just lambasting us for our ideas without really providing your own other than "im fine with them getting paid" which is essentially what we are saying, it just seems to me you are playing forum troll attacking our specifics, which is fine, thats what you do best, but just like the NCAA, we should call it what it is.

its up to the viewer to decide.

How is a woman like a linoleum floor? If you lay it right the first time, you can walk all over it for the next 20 years.

Them signing up to play for a school is what would keep that from happening. Call it education-free scholarship, or them being hired as employees, or whatever you wanna call it. Bottomline they sign up to play football for a school, period.

Why are you contradicting yourself? You've said numerous times you're in favor of players making money on the side, and now you say its a terrible idea.
