At least with Lee Evans and Torrey Smith they have vertical threats they haven't had in years past. I don't think the supporting cast around him is really much if any worse at all. They even got Bryant McKinnie at LT who's been playing well and moved Michael Oher back to his more natural position at RT.
Heap really is that much better than Dickson. Dickson isn't bad, but Heap was Flacco's safety net. Heap averaged 15 YPC last year...Dickson is averaging 8.9 YPC this year. Mason had 61 catches last year for 802 yards and 7 TDs...not bad, not great. But I think Flacco was comfortable throwing to Mason because he knew that Mason would be where he needed to be and he'd catch the ball.

We have 5 threads about how bad Mark Sanchez is on here every month yet we haven't had a single one about Joe Flacco in 4 years even though he shits the bed every single time he gets to the playoffs.
Its because of the amount of hype Sanchezchise got when the Jets started 3-0 his rookie year. The media and fans alike were all over him, especially when he got some playoff wins.

Here is how I look at it. You put eight men in the box to contain Ray Rice. On passing downs, one of those eight becomes a spy to keep Rice out of the passing game.

You then force the Ravens to beat you deep. The Ravens are just not having success moving the chains like in years past, because they are missing both Heap and Mason, and that hurts. Both players you could rely upon to catch passes and move the chains for first downs. This year, you just don't have that and it is catching up to them.

It is hard to place all of the blame on Flacco when he is hitting his targets and they are dropping them. Even Boldin had issues in their last game. But he does share some of it, and that doesn't even begin to start in on his playoff performances.

Sanchez reminds me a lot of Orton...especially as of recently. Doesn't really do anything to win or lose a team a game. No huge plays or dumb ass throws. But when you look down at the end of the game he's put up decent enough stats.

            Sanchez IMo doesn't suck...he's just " a guy"

Amani Toomer, who won a Super Bowl ring with the New York Giants, would take Tim Tebow over Mark Sanchez if he were starting a franchise today.
