Arizona has no shot, they simply don't have the cap room. I wasn't aware of what a terrible cap situation they were in. They have to cut over $16 million just to reach the cap. Then they would have to sign Manning.....and probably Wayne and another FA or so. Arizona would have to cut nearly $30 million to make room to get under the cap plus have surplus to sign FAs. And they would have to cut that $30mil in the next 32hrs.
It's Denver's to lose........but I find the large amount of sunshine being blown up Denver's ass to be very skeptical for a team that as of 2 weeks ago wasn't even thought of as a big contender.Comment

My understanding is that the cap these days is a joke.
As an example, I know Dallas is supposed to be less than $5M under as of right now. Yet, with a couple of cuts (Newman, Buehler) and some restructures (Romo, Witten, Austin, etc) they could be as much as $30M under by Tuesday afternoon. Gotta imagine it's like that league wide.
Point being, if Arizona wants Peyton bad enough, they can make it happen.

How is that any different than before when it supposedly wasn't "a joke"?Comment

I still fail to see your point. The cap limit is still the cap limit. They still need to cut or restructure people. Being $16 million over the cap still means you need to cut a significant player, or multiple players, plus restructure many deals. $16mil is nearly 15% of the whole teams allowed cap. The new CBA does not have some special new language that allows certain people or contractual items to not count against the cap, nor is there a new rule for getting rid of what you owe.Comment

I feel like Miami is still in the running, but no where near leding the pack.
I am just scared that the Dolphins will OVERPAY Flynn like Arizona did with Kolb, which is why I would rather Peyton be an awesome guy and sign with Miami. In the event he doesn't, Miami needs to put Flynn in his place. Dude has a good skillset, but 1 good game does not equal 50+million dollars.
If Miami does not sign Flynn, then obviously Philbin just doesn't see him becoming much in this league as a starter.
Peyton, come to the Dolphins. You already live here. You know you wanna stay foreber.

Miami needs a quality QB, to be the face of the franchise, for a potential outlook of 8-10yrs.Comment

I don't debate that about being in the hole in 2-3 years.
I just feel like we could get a QB in the 2nd/3rd round in the next 1-3 years draft and he can groom behind Peyton until he retires.
I would much rather that chance than overpay Flynn and him being a complete fucking bust.

The hard part would be convincing him they could add other pieces. But getting him on the roster is really not that big an obstacle.
