Its not arguable. The #2 team lost in overtime to the #1 team. Both LSU and Alabama have destroyed every team they played except each other. IMO (taking people's desire to not see a rematch out of it) figuring who is #2 is pretty easy. Its not as if Okie St. is undeafeted or lost to a more highly ranked team. I'm sure someone will post Okie St's SOS or the fact they beat teams in the top 10, but the BCS still has Alabama over Okie St, so that has to say something.
The conference champion argument makes sense for the NFL, because there is an actual playoff system that is built to crown two conference champions. College football doesn't have such a system, so the "rules" have to be different. The BCS doesn't reward conference champions (as there are to many), but takes the two best teams according to the BCS rankings. I'd rather see the two best teams play each other as opposed to a rule that makes the 1st and 3rd best teams play.
