Jackson improved tremendously from the last time he was a starter. He wasnt a world beater by any means, but he was a competent NFL starter (60% comp, more TD's than INT's, 3000+ yards in 14 starts).

Again, Flynn being a significant upgrade from Jackson is hardly a lock. Its real easy to step into a well oiled machine like the GB offense and look good.

Its still only 8 quarters bruh.

Scott Mitchell had himself a good 8 quarter run as well. All that needs to be said about that is.........Scott Mitchell.

I have to feel for Dolphins fans though. What is going on down there though? First Harbaugh, then Fisher, now this. Shit is bonkers. Is still South Beach right?

They at least got him for a much better number than we all anticipated. I was expecting some awful deal similar or comparable to that deal Kolb got. This deal is barely half that.

Don't act like Tarvaris Jackson was good in any sense of the word. You saying he threw 1 more td than int's is being competent?

Can you explain to me at all what he may have struggled with?

When you look at Kolb you could easily see incompetencies in his games spot starting for the Eagles. The Redskins game where he threw a trillion check downs was an awful game and somehow the world thought he should be a starter.

With Flynn you can see a few mistakes here and there but nothing that really raises an eyebrow. I understand 8 quarters is 8 quarters but I don't think you can just throw that away either. He did some impressive things.

Scott Mitchell was entirely different. People saw what Scott Mitchell was entirely because he had like half a season. He had the occasional good game and then a lot of mediocrity and bad games.

I understand there may be bad things about Flynn we may not know about because we haven't seen him play a whole lot but I would rather look at the upside and what we as a team could possibly become rather than be scared and not take a chance on anyone because they might wind up bad. Flynn in 2 starts hasn't shown anything that makes you think he'll be a free agent bust. He showed more than Schaub ever did with the Falcons and Schaub turned into a fine acquisition for the Texans. For every Kolb there is a Schuab in his place. You hit some and you miss some. That applies to the NFL draft as well as anywhere else you look.

Whats going on is Stephen Ross, did is ruining the Lolphins.

You don't pay a potential backup almost 9M a year. Its his job.

But yeah, i'm sure the idea here is for Flynn to start, obviously.

But to say he will definitely be much better than Jackson is nothing more than guessing based on almost zero body of work, and not understanding that Jaskson wasn't nearly as bad last year as people are making him out to be.

Sounds like Rob Johnson, minus trading Fred Taylor for him and all.

I don't get the Jackson hate either. He won't take us to the next level, but we could do a lot worse at QB.

                          Like Nick Foles.

Anyway.. I'm on the wagon. I see a lot of parallels between Flynn that were there when we acquired Matt Hasselbeck.

And Tarvaris Jackson is fucking awful. Don't look at stats.. watch the games. The man couldn't read a blitz even if he magically had the ability to "R2" a defense.

Agreed. Although the "competing" thing is Pete Carroll verbiage. He would say Drew Brees was "competing" for the job too.

Barring Flynn looking completely awful in the preseason and Tarvaris Jackson looking unbelievable.. Flynn is starting Week 1.

Now to feverishly pray the 49ers don't land Peyton Manning.

I disagree with you on both Foles and Jackson, but I am happy we got Flynn without giving up a shit ton of money for him.

You'd take Foles in Round 2.. he's projected as a 5th rounder, and could go lower for a myriad of reasons.

And apparently the organization doesn't feel very good about Jackson.. otherwise they wouldn't have given a 3 year deal to a guy with 2 career starts.

                                In summary.. agree to disagree.
