Asante and Hobbs are 2 totally different players. I like Hobbs but I'm not sure I would be heartbroken if they let him walk, he is an average corner at best, IMO.

We can definitely eliminate CB from draft considerations on day one.

      What will they take now?

      LB (possibly two?)
      SS
      WR?
      HB?
Potential QB choice as well, I guess.

No idea, that pats are weird in that they are satisfied with having players other people don't want in promonent roles o their team, and are succesful with it. So i have no clue

I think the patriots might be signing these guys cause they had success against the patriots in the past. In 2007 when NE played Washington and Cleveland these two corners held Moss for under 100 yards. I dont know if Bodden and Springs both lined up against Moss but in both those games are outside receivers didnt have that much success.

Thats because the patriots refuse to overpay for most of there players. When Hobbs' contract is up they will sign him if he wants to sign cheap.

btw- Hobbs contract is up after this year, not sure they re-sign him either.
I hope they let him walk. His short ass is so overrated it's beyond me. I've never seen an elite corner turn late every time his receiver gets even with him.

If you need proof, shoot Plaxico Burress an email, or any of the 31580 million people who watched the Giants/Pats game.

I think Hobbs is more of a liability than anything. Thats why I still think they draft a CB this year with the depth available and thier over abundance of picks.

The weak spot was corner last season, and they definitely filled that void. Now I'd guess the main weak link is in the safeties. Is Harrison returning? Merriweather came on strong last year, but other than that, there isn't a ton of talent roaming around there. Probably pick up a SS in the draft as Len said too.
They picked Kevin O'connell in the 3rd rd last year as a QB which is high for them when you consider Brady and Cassels spots the years they were drafted. Gutierrez was back on the roster after Brady went down, mainly because he knows the system so well, he actually outplayed Cassel in the pre-season. Harrison hasn't made a decision yet but I still think he gives it one more shot, could be wrong.

Thanks for pointing that out, lol. I originally just typed his last name, I should have left it that way!

I rather have O'Connel/Guiterez(both who had good a good pre season) that know the system as back up then have a rookie who probably wont be better than both of them on the roster.

Definitely agree. If you guys remember when Brady went down everyone kept wondering why they didn't sign a veteran FA QB. I certainly think that the Pats are looking for O'Connell to be the backup, which is the reason why they used a 3rd rounder to draft him. In BB we trust, if he didn't feel confident in them, they wouldn't be there.

btw- I think we all thought BB was out of his mind when he cut Gutierrez and kept Cassel after the atrocious pre-season Cassel had last year, that decision worked out to our advantage.

With all these upgrades it would be crazy if they went undefeated all the way to the superbowl and then lost....
