I liked Penn State Football so much growing up that I even applied to Penn State when I graduated high school. Then my parents got a look at out of state tuition and that ended that. Kind of glad for that now in hindsight.

why would anyone care about not getting a job with someone who was stupid enough to judge you because you went to Penn State?

Anyone that stupid isnt worth knowing. You are bring up an outlandish scenario that wont even really happen in the first place.

I personally know people that lost internships AFTER getting them because of scandal. Are you joking? Your logic is silly here. 1) I'm sure it has happened and will happen; and 2) it's not like when it happens the employer will say "we're doing this because you went to Penn State".

I suppose next you're going to tell me employers don't hire based on looks either, right?

it doesnt matter if those people are gone. the school put these people in charge, these people represented Penn St, they allowed children to be raped...therefore the school allowed children to be raped

People actually lost jobs/internships because their degree was from PSU?

I must know where this business was located, because that makes absolutely zero sense.

Of course it makes no sense. Just like it makes no sense to hire someone based on sexual orientation or race. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, and again, it's not like they came right out and said "Son, you went to PSU, you're gone." He (in this case, my cousin) got an internship at a law firm that was extremely excited to have him, only to turn around and let him go a couple of days after the PSU shit broke (more specifically, the boneheaded riot for Paterno).

I'm surprised that people are surprised by this.

No, I am the only one being logical. People who would do this obviously arent logical.

What city was the law firm in, if you don't mind. Obviously, sex/race/looks/assorted random bullshit all influences hirings.....but for what happened to influence a random person's status at a business all because of a football program at their university just seems over the top ridiculous.

Co-sign on what ralaw said - they're all pieces of shit.

The dude I can't understand in all this is McCreary. How the fuck do you walk in on a child being attacked in the shower and not tear Sandusky apart? I don't get it.

Harrisburg. I agree it is ridiculous, but it's not unimaginable that it has happened and likely will happen. It's not like this will be the first time in history that someone is hired or not hired based upon the name of the university that they went to (for good or ill).

Your logic of "That would never happen" is what I mean is silly. I agree, people who do this are illogical. Just like people who only hire women for administrative assistant jobs are illogical.

Not only that, but report it up and go about your business. I don't get it. I wonder what he thought when he saw Sandusky to continue to be around campus.....with kids.

Fear of the power Sandusky may have still had? No idea.

Clearly the program was being placed ahead of the welfare of children. For that reason alone, I think the Death Penalty needs to be invoked.

A harsh example needs to be made that this is not acceptable. Yeah, most of these douchebags will spend the rest of their lives rotting away in prison, but I find it hard to believe they were alone in knowing what was going on at this school for over 20 years.

Make sure no one ever puts the program ahead of what's right ever again.

The fact that Joe Pa had no problem keeping his mouth shut on this matter for 14 years makes me wonder if he was in on it with Sandusky as well.
