* Im really close to falling in love with KCs backfield. Hillis may be a flash in the pan , but he covers the ball better than in the past and still runs with authority. He should be a perfect complement to Charles who pre-injury had the fastest first step of any back in the league.
My hesitance comes from KCs inability to use them properly. This is a top 1-3 running attack and a wealth of total yardage if the right plays are called and blocked.
* KC/ATL went to the 3rd quarter before the first punt IIRC. My buddy text me another game went to the 2 min warning.
NFL Rule changes are making Punters even more useless and obsolete. Do they even need to show up to practice ?
* Speaking of NFL rule changes Luck and RG3 are graced. This isnt Peyton Manning and Vick there rookie years. But Shanahans fantastic playcalls and gameplan and Indys leftover pass system is going to help these guys look like stars.
RG3s playbook reminds me of Cunninghams when he was in Philly. Way more decisive than when Vick came in and his progressions are alot simpler. He will be protected but as film gathers his athleticism will be put to the test.
Luck needs a strong head. That offenses lack of talent may result in a number of ugly INTs and unnecessary hits.
*Matt Forte is a joy to watch. He may never lead the league in rushing but youll never know hes not that elite back watching him play. Hes as good as anyone in open space or in a crowd. Hes a nightmare coming out of the backfield. Im “ok” with Bush getting goal line carries. But anywhere else on the field LOL at putting Bush in. Doesnt make any sense to me. Ill assume theyre terrified of injury to Forte again. Between Chi/KC they really need to learn the value of top tier RBs and use em. N.E adjusted and centered there pass around TEs. No reason an imaginative use of RBs cant be come up with.
*Is anyone else creeped out by the Geico Orakpo caveman commercials ? Its shot in some weird Low Def Handy Cam quality. And its just yucky and awkward.
*Refs.....keep em.
Yes its week 1 yes I should wait a month or so but I like them. I see less holding and P.I calls which usually means the refs are “letting guys play”.Nothing objective here but I feel game continuity esepcially late in the game was better in week1 than it was in any week in december.
* Im going to have a weekly over/under on how many time an announcer says the phrase " This is a QB driven league now"
*Cam Newton and Steve Smith performed amazingly. I never thought two guys lining up by themselves would do so well against the vaunted 85 Bears defense. Imagine how good Carolinas offense will be with 9 other players.
*Sanchez and the Jets.
Lets not break out the annointing oils but Sanchez proves again that for all his media fragility this kid can handle pressure games. The media was armed and ready to tear him and this team apart and he goes out and puts on a solid performance. Too bad they cant face an unprepared Bills team every week.
*Cowboys
That Oline held and got away with it on ALOT of plays. This should worry every Cowboys fan.
*You can hype Romos performance etc but fact of the matter is the difference is and was Demarco Murray. Romos stupid late game decisions should be masked by his ability to keep down and distance out of obvious Romo plays. That Oline and Murray will decide the Cowboys record this year above all else.
P.S I realize Im a bit premature since theres two games on tonight. But I refuse to bend to the NFLs will of putting on 18 nationally televised games opening week.
