Blind BCS Poll

The problem with a blind poll is the eye test. Oregon goes up by 50, sits their starters, then wins 56-25. They only had a 31 point margin, but really, it could have been 100 if they tried for a full game. Also, with several weeks left to go and some big games on the way, its tough to say Bama has had a very tough schedule before last week, but really, their schedule took a big jump last week and is about to go up more with even more ranked teams and the SEC Championship.Comment

The bottom half of the league is shit, but the top half is full of teams that would mollywhop Notre Dame with relative ease. Pretty sure none of the teams I mentioned would need two late scores and three overtimes to edge a team which previously lost to Youngstown fucking State.Comment

I used to watch SEC games and think "Wow, ND could not even compete with these teams." Maybe it's ND actually being good, but I don't think that anymore.
I think Alabama is the best team, but they still haven't beaten anybody. McCarron looked like shit Saturday night, yet he is the best quarterback in the entire league. NDs strength is stopping the run and relying on shitty QBs to be shitty. It worked against MSU, Stanford, Oklahoma, etc. All the SEC teams play right into NDs strengths. Allow underneath passes, wait for QB to fuck up, and stuff the run. I'm not saying I think ND could beat Alabama or LSU, because I don't, but to say they won't even compete just shows how overrated the SEC is this year. USCe? Barely could win at home against Tennessee. Tennessee? Had to squeak out a home win against Troy! Amazing SEC defenses? UT is 110th in points allowed in the country in one of the worst offensive conferences. And they almost pulled out a win at Georgia! Georgia? They beat a terrible Florida team who had to turn the ball over 7 times so Georgia could score... the same Florida team that beat LSU like a little bitch. Then LSU takes Alabama down to the wire, and everyone thinks its so shocking... No. The SEC is just not as good as years past. Alabama and LSU are great teams. USCe, Georgia, Florida? Good teams. Not great by any stretch.
I could go on and on but I'm bored and the next set of polls are about to close.Comment

I guess Alabama sucks because they needed a late drive to beat a team that struggled with Towson.Comment

Other than just beating a top 5 team in the toughest road venue in the country, sure.

LSU won that game 38-22 and it was never really close. On the other hand, Pitt actually fucking lost, 31-17.
Winning decisively != struggling != losing
Throw out the transitive stuff though, and just use what you have seen. Do you think any of the teams I mentioned, the top 5 in the SEC, would ever find themselves down 20-6 at home to Pitt?
Those teams that are "so good" haven't beaten anybody but themselves this year. You "elite" SEC teams play no good out of conference games, then beat each other up yet you're somehow the Gods of college football. It's ridiculous really.
Anyway. I love how you criticize the out of conference (emphasis mine) opposition of the SEC, meanwhile Notre Dame has played absolute fucking bums. Other than the impressive win in Norman, and the close win over Stanford, they have not played anybody either. Big Ten and ACC garbage, plus Navy. Nice.Comment
