Notre Dame football's renaissance season had broadcast partner NBC smiling all the way to the bank.

Last Saturday's clash in Los Angeles between No. 1 Notre Dame and unranked USC drew more than 16 million viewers, making it the most-watched contest involving the Irish on any network since 1993, their third year in which NBC started exclusively broadcasting ND home games.
It was also the most-watched regular-season college football game since 2006, the most-viewed ABC Saturday night game ever, the fifth-most-watched regular-season game involving any teams on any network since at least 1991 and the most-watched regular-season game not involving a 1-vs.-2 matchup since 1991.
Ratings figures prior to 1991 are unavailable.Comment

I heard that as well, and it definitely comes as a shock since they are almost always locked in to an East division team. Meanwhile the Cotton sounds pretty set on picking the loser of the SECCG, so we could see both bowls go against their traditional regional preference.
Looking all the more likely LSU gets the Peach shaft.Comment
