According to the Daily News, Jets owner Woody Johnson "prefers" Greg McElroy to be the starting quarterback.

McElroy guided the Jets to a win in a relief role last week, so Johnson appears smitten. The report also says that GM Mike Tannenbaum and OC Tony Sparano prefer Mark Sanchez. None of these heavy hitters want Tim Tebow under center. Ultimately, the final decision will be in the hands of head coach Rex Ryan, who has shown silly amounts of loyalty to Sanchez over the last 2.75 seasons. We're expecting a decision here by Wednesday.

You really believe that? C'mon man, where are the gamebreakers? Who on the Jets offense do DCs have to scheme for?

Remember that year that Peyton Manning broke the TD record with wide receiver Brandon Stokley as one of his receivers and both went to the Pro Bowl, and after that Peyton Manning vanished off of the face of the Earth and Brandon Stokley went on to become the greatest wide receiver in the history of the NFL?

Peyton Manning has made a career of creating gamebreakers. Yet somehow he still doesn't get the credit for it from everyone.

but how did they move the ball?

              run game...

McElroy threw for 29yds...he really didn't do anything spectacular.

He doesn't need to be spectacular and I'm sure no one expects him to be. He just needs to play turnover free football and make some first down throws off of that run game and that will give the Jets a chance to win. Bottom line the Jets have been abysmal offensively under Sanchez and McElroy could've very well led two touchdown drives in limited action.

No chance they're a Super Bowl contender RIGHT NOW with that supporting cast. I absolutely respect Peyton Manning, but there's not chance with those receivers or running backs Peyton Manning makes them a Super Bowl contender. Hell, even if Santonio Holmes was healthy ... no chance. The Jets are not a Super Bowl contender with a collection of backup receivers and Shonn Greene as their #1 RB.

I don't care how great Peyton Manning is ... that team is a train-wreck offensively. Their receivers absolutely suck, their RB is a journeyman. Peyton Manning does not make them a Super Bowl contender. And, frankly, their D has sucked this year too.

You know what? You're right Dave. It's not like Peyton Manning has turned nobodies into somebodies before.

I'm not saying Peyton Manning hasn't made average players better, but he always had Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison and Dallas Clark. He also had a sane coaching staff that knew enough to give him freedom.
The Jets have never had Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison or Dallas Clark ... or Brandon Stokely for that matter.

You are right dave, he always had those three and they made him look good.

It's not like Keller and Holmes aren't any good.

Blah blah blah blah...what did any of those names do without Manning? Wayne has had a few good games with Luck, who is the best example of the NEXT Manning...so yeah. I am so sick of the "Manning had these receivers" argument. Why is it not "Marvin Harrison would have been nothing if it weren't for Peyton Manning"?

There is a reason why most teams with good QBs swap in new receivers all the time.
