Sounds like per @ djoneshoop Terry Pegula (Buffalo Saber's owner) pitched in 1.3 million and now O'Brien will get $3.6 million.

Plus if he bolts now, it's a PR nightmare for him. Bad timing.

"I'm not a one-and-done guy," said O'Brien. "I made a commitment to these players at Penn State and that's what I am going to do. I'm not gonna cut and run after one year, that's for sure."

I'm glad to hear it. Anything to have good coaches in the B1G.

They paid BOB a big raise to stay.

If they didn't...he would have walked out the door with a Vince McMahon power walk...believe that.

I agree. I unfortunately believe he'll leave at some point during this four-year sanction period, but if he was gone now, it might have been the most crippling of the sanctions. Breneman starts classes next week at PSU, Hack, Sickels and Mahon haven't wavered a bit from their commitments and there's still the "transfer without penalty" thing going on until the start of next season. Him staying keeps mostly all of the kids here with the chance to pull in more.

If BO'B left, suddenly almost everyone decommits and talent-wise, they become a middle-of-the-road MAC team with the worst still to come.

SUCH INTEGRITY, HE NEVER WAVERED ON HIS COMMITMENT TO THAT PROGRAM

(he just leveraged a raise, that's all)

Yeah, this quote: "I'm not a one-and-done guy," said O'Brien. "I made a commitment to these players at Penn State and that's what I am going to do. I'm not gonna cut and run after one year, that's for sure."

Sure loses some impact after they basically backed up a Brinks truck into his driveway

I don't see a problem with how he handled it. After the year he had he would of been a fool not to leverage that into some sort of personal gain, like any other coach would.

As far as his quotes, college football coaches need to be 75% salesmen, and perception is a huge part of that. Par for the course as far as NCAA coaches go.

I'm just trying not to put him up on some kind of moral pedestal just because he coaches at PSU. But I don't see much backlash nationally, so I think most people get it...
