Chiefs Down To Four Players For #1 Pick

The Kansas City Chiefs are down to four potential possibilities for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

That according to NFL.com's Albert Breer, who spoke with general manager John Dorsey at Chiefs headquarters on Monday.

Dorsey said the Chiefs plan to make a final decision four days before the draft. He's been meeting with head coach Andy Reid three times a day about the pick. Reid will get even more involved in the 7-10 days before the first pick is announced on April 25 at Radio City Music Hall, according to Breer.

Dorsey wouldn't disclose who the four players are. It's safe to assume Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel is one. Is West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith another?

Smith was set to arrive in Kansas City on Monday night ahead of a meeting with Chiefs brass on Tuesday morning, according to Breer. That doesn't necessarily mean Smith is in that final four, however.

One other possibility has the Chiefs trading out of the top pick, which Dorsey didn't rule out. The clock is ticking.

Top corner in the class. Sean Smith still kind of sucks, getting a new contract doesn't change that and Brandon Flowers, while awesome, is always getting nicked up.

They're still taking Joeckel...but I wouldn't be shocked if Milliner is in the Top 4 on their board. He's a top 5 or so player on a ton of boards in this year's draft.

So unless the Chiefs are gonna use a dime defense all game they can use that no. 1 pick elsewhere. I believe its a foregone conclusion they will be drafting a tackle considering Branden Albert is trying to be traded and Eric Winston was let go.

Opposing QBs pick on him all game. Any corner in the league targeted more than Sean Smith? What corners had more TDs thrown on them...Patrick Robinson? Cary Williams? List probably stops there. Maybe there is another name or two, its not much less.

And, its not about who they'll draft, its about who is at the top of their board. Consensus guy, at a position of need going into the off-season (usually yields a ton of evaluation)...

FWIW, Milliner is set to visit the Chiefs soon.

When Indy traded for Vontae Davis last year the consensus seemed to be Miami let go of their weaker corner. I seem to remember fans feeling a lot better about Smith and actually feeling annoyed with Davis.

Davis probably gave Indianapolis the best play at corner they've seen for years. even when I think back to the Nick Harper/Jason David/ Marlin Jackson days I don't think Indianaplis had a guy like Davis who could cover AND tackle.

Davis had his moments and he is a great tackler who will not shy from contact. However, he is as immature as they come, and stupid. If you pay attention going forward, or look back on media stuff when he was in Miami, Vernon is constantly around him and looking over him. Try to find the episode of Scoring the Deal on HGTV where Vontae wanted to sell his home in FL for $1 million more than he bought it, it's a perfect example (aside from the fact the idiot didn't realize FL homes are the worst hit with depreciation and he wants $1 million MORE because he added some decorations). Also like when Ireland told him on Hard Knocks he was traded, first thing out of his mouth was "Can I call my Grandma?" Seriously? That's a grown fucking man right there! Also you saw on Hard Knocks what a lazy fuck he is, and this has been a constant problem, always an excuse to get out of working. Not to mention showing up once to practice drunk from the night before where Brandon Marshall almost beat his ass because of it. Decent corner, not a great corner, will never live up to his #1 pick status. We got back a second for him instead of nothing, which is what would have happened when we didn't give him the $8-10 million a year he'll probably want just like Sean Smith did. Sean Smith did not play zone coverage all the time last year, furthermore, he played it very little his other 3 years. Larry hit it on the head, whether it be zone or man. Sean Smith is a fraud and it shows in the amount of money and interest he had in free agency compared to what he was suppose to get. And whatever you do KC fans, on his Twitter account don't tell him anything other than what he believes is true or he'll block you and report you.

Miami traded Vontae Davis because he was/is good. He had legitimate trade value. They got a 2nd round pick for the guy. Davis ended up being pretty good for Indy.

Sean Smith had no trade value. He stunk in 2011, and he stunk in 2012. Perhaps a change of scenery and scheme will be good for him...I dunno...but so far, he stinks.

The discussion about Sean Smith is the same shit I've argued with Jaguar fans about with Derek Cox. There was a stretch of like...3 games before he was injured where he was rarely thrown on and shockingly didn't give up a touchdown and wasn't burned on a big play...it gives fans hope with some statistical backup that a player can be really good and there is just some reason why he's not (injuries, scheme, pass rush, whatever), just like that one game where Sean Smith played well against Larry Fitzgerald...I said for years...Derek Cox stinks...he's average at best. He was awful for the Jaguars. Maybe he goes on and finds success in San Diego...hell if I know or care. I'm not the type of guy that thinks a guy can't get better or a change of scenery and scheme won't get better play out of him. But, facts is facts and when a guy stinks, he stinks. Smith...and an extension of the discussion...Cox...they were awful up until this point.
