Does anyone else remember when the NFL killed that show ESPN had about a fictitious NFL team with a gay QB? I think it was called playmakers...

This has become way bigger than a concussion issue should and it's making the players and league look bad.
The players want more money. They go broke because they spend all their money and don't know what to do so they figure they can probably get some money from the NFL with this concussion issue.
Not saying they all are or that even most of are doing this but I think that's a big reason as to why this issue has generated more attention than it probably should.
The NFL offers a of resources for players to take care of them. The guys sign up to play and get paid to do it.
This is like me working for a construction company and then suing them for a bad back after I retire.
Summary of NFL PLayer Benefits (not sure if this is up to date):

These men know the risks, and a very tiny fraction of them have debilitating head issues. Don't buy the hype on this.Comment

Anyway, I'd say the helmets are fine, considering less than 1% of ex-NFL players and probably less than .000000001% of all people who have played football have serious brain issues.Comment

The NFL has spent a lot of money towards researching this and they are going to make the game safer as technology improves and time goes by.
It's not going to happen over night.
"The better protection the helmet provides, sometimes the more likely (players) are to use their head, and that's a dilemma that we have to change, in part through rules," Goodell said. "But I also see that we could potentially change the helmet by making it lighter. (That) would make it less of a weapon."
And then we'll just have more people like JimLeavy and players complaining about how Gooddell is ruining the NFL.
These guys sign up for this shit and they get paid appropriately.
Newsflash - Football is a dangerous sport.
That's why you sign on the dotted line.
Interesting to see some of the players suing the NFL:
