Ok back to Steelers talk. I hope Lake pans out as a good defensive coach. I know Dick LeBeau is 73 going on 40, but who knows how much time he has left in him and I'd love to see an ex-Steeler player who knows the 3-4 defense like Lake to take over.

You obviously don't understand how sad you look to me right now. You're doing a horrible job of trolling right now considering I'm quite happy with how the Steelers season turned out. If you remember I was very congratulatory to all Green Bay fans just hours after the Super Bowl. Now you're in here trying to tickle my angry bone about the Steelers losing and the jokes on you. I don't care son. I got to see the Steelers win two SB's this decade, and my team kicked much ass this season. I couldn't be more proud to be a Steelers fan.

Carnell Lake was the AFC DPOY in 1997, 5x pro bowl selection and a member of the 1990's All-Decade team. The dude was a great player and I really hope that it translates to coaching.

Keith Butler is already being offered DC jobs in other cities. He turned one down in Miami, and is being pursued by Arizona right now. Point is Butler won't be around when Dick retires. If I was a betting man I'd say our next DC would be John Mitchell. But I'd like to believe Dick is going to be our DC until he dies at 102 yrs old, and by that time Carnell Lake will be ready. Take that last statement with a grain of salt BTW, Dick could live forever.



edit: The reason I'm fantasizing about Lake as the DC down the line is he was coached by Lebeau, and played the same position as Lebeau, played like Lebeau. He was one of my favorite Steelers when I was a kid, and it just feels right having him come home to coach for us. I really hope he becomes a special coach for us.

idk about lake being DC, but him as DB coach is a plus. we have sucked ass in pass D for the last 5 years and without tryoy it is almost unwatchable. this is a good move IMO. now if we can get rid of arians I will be happy.

Lake as our future DC is just wishful thinking. More like a pipe dream. I really hope he can do something for our DB's, but I'd be much much happier if we would have signed Rod Woodson before he went off to Oakland. It's our corners that need major improvement anyhow. But I think we have a lack of talent at CB mostly, so maybe if we can sign and/or draft a starter and/or extra depth we'd be good don't you? I hope we can do something because it's our weakness.
