Celtics center Kevin Garnett used some bad language yesterday against the Nuggets, when he yelled get that shit outta here nigga, after blocking Kenneth Faried's shot.

Refs have to treat it like calls on blows to the head and throw the flag even if it's close.

Still don't see why this just can't be completely ignored. Maybe a couple of guys say the N word on the field, but it's not like the fans are hearing it.

        Unlike with the NBA...

Seriously, what the fuck is going on around here?
While on vacation, had a long talk with my father about sports and such. We both agreed that the NFL is not long for holding either of our interests. Unbelievable how much the game has changed recently.

Don't NFL have better things to do than try to legislate language? So pathetic it's funny.

The NFL continues to be a cash cow, so they can get away with this nonsense.

My brother and I have had the same discussion. I'm sure a lot of discussions have happened like that, but we still tune in and a 30 point difference SuperBowl had the most viewers ever.

Exactly. I don't see how the NFL will become irrelevant.

If it wasn't for gays being responsible for bringing all that self inflicted pain and suffering, forcing others to assault them through words and physical violence, we wouldn't have such stupid rules in the NFL. I blame GAY people. Obviously so does the Arizona Senators and Governors. Soon the NFL will refuse to serve gay athletes siting religious persecution, and rightly so. It's all the GAY peoples fault.

Irrelevant? That's a strong word. That won't happen to any league barring a scandal.

But there are many cracks in the NFL foundation now and early signs of a peak. If they keep tweaking the game and the presentation of the game, eventually all of these small changes add up to a large one. I'm not predicting doom & gloom, but I do strongly believe the popularity of the league is going to take a hit over the course of the next decade or so. I strongly believe fantasy football is the only thing preventing that at the moment. Fantasy is peaking, and like any other fad will eventually decline. My theory is the NFL will push for legalized gambling when the fantasy bubble bursts.

This is/would be a fucking stupid rule.

                        That is all.

I agree with what the league is trying to do...they have been changing NFL culture for sometime. The league is becoming more mainstream, so they are trying to appeal to the majority of their fanbase. The NBA did this (getting away from "hip hop" culture) a few years ago.

Whether we like it or not they are trying to have a professional workplace. Not going to agree or disagree with the rule but the thought behind it is correct. If you use terms that are derogatory towards race, gender, or sexual preference... you will be fired in most (nearly all) work places.

Good luck enforcing it... but the actual concept is spot on.

When can the audience even hear what the players say to each other on the field?
