If you're including some of these guys in the second group you might want to mention Roddy White. Been a top 10 receiver for most of this decade.

So the consensus is D. Thomas is a #1 receiver, and not necessarily a product of catching passes from Peyton Manning and also have other receiving threats on the roster as well? I would put him on the fringe list right now, but if he puts together another season like the past two, I will give it to him.

I'm more in line with KoF's definition. I might even sumplify it a bit. It's the guy the QB should definitely be throwing to if he gets single coverage and shouldn't look away from even when he's doubled.

Wayne has been there for years, roddy isn't even the best wr on his own team. Roddy was a fringe guy for a while, and even though he put up stats, I never thought of him as a true #1.

Wayne has been there for years, roddy isn't even the best wr on his own team.

Neither was Wayne for most of is career and I still considered him a #1. This would be like saying Zach Greinke is not an ace because he's not Clayton Kershaw.

Obviously I like him because he's on my team, but I also think the production speaks for itself. I just think he's been underrated most of his career. Always felt Wayne was under-appreciated as well. Roddy, Wayne and Steve Smith have been my three favorite WRs of this generation simply because I love watching them play.

Not gonna stretch the field much anymore but very few WRs can match his body control on sideline catches, and his physicality at the LOS. Just a complete WR. The production was there up until this year, when he was playing on one leg. He's clearly in the twilight of his career at this point and will be phased into more of a possession role, but in my estimation he was certainly a true #1 for the last 5-6 seasons prior to the injury-riddled 2013.
