If he had received a DUI, and was therein compromising the reputation of the league, then you suspend him, but not for a trace of alcohol, or a trace of pot. In 5 years when more than half of the country has recreational marijuana laws in place and the NFL revises their policy on marijuana we are going to look back and shame the NFL for taking a player's career away. Players have done so much worse to embarrass "The Shield" and gotten off with so much less. He's being made an example of, when the hammer should be coming down much harder on the guys that actually harming other human beings or compromising the integrity of the game.
Unfortunately (if that is your feelings) he is a part of a union that agreed to those terms. It's no different than any other work place in America with a drug and alcohol abuse policy. It is the employers right to put those policies in place.

Whether or not you agree with the policy, Josh Gordon did agree to it. And he did not follow it. He is in the substance abuse program for a reason.

Simply put, he chose drugs and alcohol over his career, team, fans, and potentially 100 million dollars. He wasn't taking a political stand, he screwed up (again) and thought he wouldn't get caught. No matter how you slice it or excuses you want to make, it's 100% on him... he is wrong.

I'm so tired of these guys that feel the need to stand up for the "rules" instead of using their own intelligence to judge people or things.

It's like those nerds that kept telling me "by rule Dez bryant didn't catch the ball because he lost it when reaching for the goal line!" The rule can kiss my ass. I'm not a retard that needs the NFL to tell me what a catch is or buckeye to tell me that drinking is a privilege and not a right.

It's a stupid rule, I don't agree with it because it's not fair and people should criticize the rule for it's stupidity instead of blindly standing up for it like buckeye who is apparently perfect.

Sorry but i don't let a bunch of fat old ignorant white jackasses tell me what my privileges or rights are. And the tools that do aren't helping anyone when it comes to stupid rules like this. Eventually, this alcohol policy will change because it's silly and then buckeye will be here to tell all of us that it's now ok for these guys to drink.

That's where I come down on it. Gordon has shown a consistent inability to practice moderation and has addictive tendencies. If he doesn't like the NFL's rules, he can always go back to the car lot he was working at for 0.001% of the money and much longer hours.

IMO, if everything Josh Gordon has written here is true (and I'm not saying it is) ... who cares?
          He had four drinks.
As he and the people who wrote this missive for him pointed out - the NFL is a huge advocate for beer/alcohol and what not.
Tom Cruise gets to promote a fake religion that steal millions from people, makes millions on his movies. Josh Gordon an admittedly irresponsible kid, but kill his career for this? Really?
