Machida's style is just too hard to stop. If you can get one good shot on him you better make it knock him out

UFC 98 Thoughts:
- Sherk looked awful last night. He looked slow and Edgar was simply too fast for him and didn't give Sherk an opportunity for a takedown.
- Chael Sonnen, while some say boring, dominated Miller the entire fight. I'm shocked Sonnen didn't get a KO or TKO. Miller looked gassed by the 2nd round.
- Foupa-Pokam can argue all he wants with the ref, but, the dude couldn't even defend himself. He lunged at McFedries leg and held on...it was desperation.
- Hughes won. As I expected. I was a little shocked to see Serra prior to the announcement. He seemed to think he won the fight off of his one knockdown.
- Machida will have a long run as the LHW champion. This guy makes people look foolish.Last edited by RyanLeaf16; 05-24-2009, 11:46 AM.Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008

How is a guy who was 18-0-1 overrated? The dude was the champion and STILL a heavy underdog. Infact.. hes the underdog in EVERY fight he fights. How can someone who constantly an underdog be overrated? If anything you can argue that hes underrated.Comment

People were putting him in the top 5 p4p. That's overrated. His only big win was over Forrest. KO'ing a washed up Iceman isn't impressive IMO.So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

I thought Serra won too.So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

Theres no reason why Rashad cant still be top 5 p4p, altho top 10 is probably more fair.. thing is Machida is now top 2 or 3. If not the best, as ive been saying for a while now.
Rashad is still a tremendous fighter tho, he should've worked the ground more with Lyoto last nite but I guess he wanted to prove he could slay the Dragon. I fully expect him to come looking better than ever his next fight. Dude improves all the time.
Why do you say Serra won? He arguably was just dominated on the ground in rounds 1 and 2. Round 3 was won by Serra IMO but the other 2 rounds were clearly in Hughes favour.Comment

10 better fighters in your opinion, sure. But Rashad easily cracks my top 10.
Serra didnt "almost" finish the fight.. he rocked Hughes and did a poor job of doing further damage. Then Hughes got on top of him and worked him for the next 4 minutes or so. Couple big shots and a head butt dont equal a winning round when you get worked on the ground IMO.Comment
