Sharks will prolly benefit the most along with the Canucks. Red Wings and the Hawks have way better teams, so the trade won't affect them that much.
You keep trying to swing it like people must hate Pronger bcus of their team allegiance, that simply is not the case. The guy is just an asshole and not likeable. You make an exception if hes wearing your colours..

I've been a lifelong Sharks fans but I wish Pronger was a Shark.

I don't believe in the term "dirty player" when it comes to hockey. Pronger is a beast. He plays hard, he leads, he has a huge shot, he manhandles opponents, he is the ultimate D-Man. He is what Hitler was striving for...but on ice skates.

I'd love to see him in a Sharks jersey. I don't care about the dude is like personally, I don't know him and I don't care if he enjoys spitting on babies in his spare time, all I know is that he is going to make your team much better and that's all that matters.

I really think people that enjoy throwing the term "dirty player" around have never actually played sports in their life. You go all out and you play within the rules but you do everything in your power to win games. There is a difference between chippy and dirty, Pronger isn't like Donald Brashear or Todd Bertuzzi. He is chippy but he isn't dirty, he doesn't take cheap shots after the whistle or go after guys when they have their back towards him.

        Just saying.

I despise the guy myself, but he's a world class defencemen. Hockey isn't a 'clean' sport by any stretch of the imagination.

As my first post said, I wish the Flyers had signed Pronger to begin with 4 years ago, instead of grabbing Hatcher and Rathje (His $4mill still counts against the cap). But back then the Flyers were different, they had Bobby Clarke and Ken Hitchcock, who were dinosaurs in todays NHL.

Pronger has been my favorite d-man since the year 2000, when I saw him play his heart out literally, anyone remember his heart stopping?, in the playoffs.

Hatcher and Rathje played amazing for us, especially Hatcher, the guy played with one leg and seperated shoulder last year, and was still a force.

But Pronger is one of the best and can play another 5 years no problem.

Doesn't Rathje have a 2-way deal? So he can be put on the AHL club and while getting paid, it's not against the team cap?

Just pulling that one outta nowhere...

From what I have looked up, it looks like he still on the payroll, I will add up the numbers again.

Exactly. You can despise a player but still respect him for how hard he plays the game. I despised Theo Fleury because he was a little fucking terror every time he played the Sharks but I would have loved to have him on my team. Same goes for guys like Tie Domi and Bryan Marchment (who I hated before he came to San Jose).

This is a business. There are no friends in sports. I know that when I played football I tried to take heads off every chance I got. Whether I was practicing against my very own teammates or playing in a game against my arch rival, I tried to take heads off. Never illegally, but borderline dirty (crackback blocks and what not were too fun to pass up, even against my own teammates).

                  Figured it out.

Rathje is on LTIR (Long Term IR)

His numbers are on the books, but the Flyers are allowed to go above the Salary Cap to the amount of which they owe Rathje, so it's basically like he's not even there even though they do it that way.

So yeah, his money doesn't count towards your cap.

Yeah, but he's still surely going to be a cunt. No need for quotation marks.

You'll never hear me say he's a bad defenseman. I'm more or less the same as your sentence about despising him despite him being a great player. That's the same way as I can't stand Patrick Roy and think he's a universal jackass, but still always have him second on my Top 10 goalie list of all time behind Terry Sawchuk (I've gotta post that one of these days ala Dell's old style).

I absolutely agree about going to lay a guy out without hurting him. I've played goalie for 11 years and love it when a guy comes in with his head down and I put my full body behind a poke check to send the guy flying over top of me. The difference between that and genuinely trying to injure someone is very large. I'm trying to to take the guy out of the play, what Pronger does sends the guy out of the game and possibly longer. I can't stand taking "dirty" to the point of stupidity.
