I'm not bummed Marquardt isn't getting a shot yet. Vitor/Silva will be great.

As long as he doesn't blow it against Sonnen, he'll have his shot waiting for him.

As of right now, I would say he's the #2 Middleweight in the UFC. Rob can take his Vitor love and shove it, I'm using the same logic that allows him to put Aoki as the #1 LW in defense of Marquardt as the #2 MW. Vitor hasnt fought enough yet to prove that he deserves a title shot while Marquardt has. Nate was supposed to be first in line, the Dana put the Hendo/Bisping winner ahead of him, now Vitor, who's next? Give the guy his shot. No offense intended Rob.
lol, what does this post have to do with this thread? I didnt give Vitor a title shot, the UFC did, I'm just commenting on Vitor beating And1, also, I would agree Nate is the higher ranked fighter, but the UFC follows no ranking system and gives title shots based on it, Dan/Bisping was supposed to be for the 'number 1 contender' and we seem how that turned out

Also, Nate already was disposed of pretty quickly by And1, this is a good match to make and Vitor is hot right now, plus has history and sucess at higher weight classes, he has earned this

I was responding to Gozmo. All I'm saying is that even if Vitor wins, he didn't get the title shot based on deserving it, it was purely a business decision. Vitor has the potential to be the more marketable fighter and has the bigger name. Dana is trying to strike while the iron is hot. Marquardt has improved a lot since his title shot. Back on the topic of Silva's demise, as much as you want to see it Rob, Silva's never been knocked out and I think he'll be too elusive and too precise for Vitor.

lol @ insert number. It took you a few tries Rob, but I think it's finally going to come true now. Vitor Belfort will be the new MW champion of the UFC. Vitor has every tool necessary to come out on top. The biggest asset that people seem to overlook are his takedowns, he is capable of getting Silva to the ground. That puts him in a position to dictate exactly how he wants the fight to go. Allowing him to do what no other fighter has done and that's pressure Anderson in the standup and take it to the ground anytime Anderson may catch a bit of momentum.

& In the standup don't even be so quick to give Silva the edge. Yes, Silva has looked unstoppable on his feet, but that has been against slower and lesser athletes. Forrest, Franklin, etc. Vitor has the speed and boxing savvy it takes to go toe to toe with him. More importantly Vitor is more capable of ending this fight in one punch than Anderson is and in MMA that advantage is invaluable.

Vitor is focused, hungry, and ready. You gotta be kidding me if you're questioning this guys mental toughness. TKO 2nd round.

                  I disagree.

You also say Silva has only looked unstoppable on his feet because he's fought subpar strikers? lol...Belfort's last five wins? Franklin, Lindland, Terry Martin, James Zikac and Ivan Serati.

....Lost among all the bravado and hero worship is one very damning and yet so simple detail: he is a human being. An aging one at that. And one thing is for certain in all hominids -- perfection is unattainable.

Anderson Silva will be made painfully aware of that fact when Vitor Belfort brings an end to his run as the 185-pound kingpin.
