Pretty awesome, isn't it? How your crock of shit theory that all non-elite RBs are interchangeable was emphatically proven wrong mere hours later?

Thomas: 14-91-6.5-1 TD, 2 receptions for an additional TD
Bell: 17-49-2.9-0, 0 receptions

So its basically how I described it...Thomas is superior by any measure...yards, TDs, average, you name it, Thomas is better. And notice how once again Bell was a non-factor in the passing game.


Lemme guess...after basing your entire theory on one Mike Bell 143-yard game, you are now going to say "Its only one game..."

Sorry to go way back to pg. 1 (don't know if anyone else has addressed this) but about there is a difference between a 12 & a 13 pt lead...

with a 12 pt lead, a TD & 2 FGs beats you, with a 13 pt lead it only ties you. I don't think I would've went for 2 up 11 at that point but I can understand his logic.

It's debatable either way because with 11 a TD and a FG can tie you. I'd rather risk making them score 3 times for a win than twice for a tie.

whatever, its still not a 3 score lead, 11, 12, 13 can all be beat with two simple touchdowns with extra points.

if you are throwing fg's into the equation you might as well say an 11 pt lead is a 6 score lead because you need to get 6 safeties to get above it.

I would say the difference of a 12pt vs. 11pt lead is much bigger than a 13pt vs. 12pt lead.

1. Gus Johnson is awesome. Never paid attention to him till I heard people bash him. hes great.



2. Steven Jackson is a beast. Flawless game.

3. Dont underestimate how important the systems are when watching these guys. Rule of thumb is RBs are pretty similar carries 1-15. Usually not until a RB is carrying the ball 20+ times with a defense that isnt fresh and game momentum being more established do great RBs make there mark. Can they put the game away , are they breaking the long runs , are they moving the chains , are they sloppy in pass protection or out of the backfield ?
RBs really don't cross that threshold with frequency anymore.

Sharing carries and having entire drives and sometimes quarters off is going to skew things. NFL teams have found away to maintain overall production but finding a distinction team by team between starters and backups is going to be hard.

The way Ced Benson has been playing this year(just this year) I would even consider entering him into the elite discussion.. One of the few guys in years to do good against Baltimore's defense.

In comparison to 11, they are.

11 you need a TD + FG.

12 and 13, you need a TD + FG + FG.

There is a huge difference between 11 and 12. There is virtually no difference between 12 and 13. You don't go for two up 11. It cant help you, and can only hurt you.

More accurately:

11 you need a TD with the 2 points + FG
12 you need a TD + TD
13 you need a TD + TD

All are still technically 2 posession games.
