Does having Joe Rogan as the color analyst hurt MMA's credibility?

Now, don't get me wrong, I like Joe Rogan, he has his faults like everyone, but overall I don't mind him, but I can't think of another sport that has the lead analyst with no experience in the sport he is commenting on, throw in that the UFC gets the most attention in the media and it makes it worse, so your lead analyst breaking down the action is a comedian who trains BJJ?

Joe has never fought, never coached, pretty much has zero MMA experience

NFL, NBA, MLB, Tennis, etc...all have ex-players and coaches, not just guys who have trained in the sport, but have actually experience in the sport, atleast I can't think of any

Maybe the UFC should just dump Goldberg, he brings nothing to the broadcast anyway, make Rogan play by play and let a fighter or coach be the analyst

Isn't Rogan like a world class martial artist though?

Rogan did compete in TKD tourneys when he was a teenager, not sure what he won, but far from being a 'world class' martial artist, I just found it funny you used world class, keep your thanks!

I'd rather hear Joe Rogan than any of the other shitty analysts I've heard over the years. He is a guy who immediately connects with the viewer and knows his shit. You don't need to be some ol' fighter to be an analyst. Rogan is a better analyst than some of the other guys were fighters.

Other then when Joe kinda gets a boner for someone and is blatantly bias, I enjoy him. He works very hard to be knowledgeable on the sport and does a good job of playing of Goldberg's moronic comments. Plus he has a lot of charisma and a genuine love for the sport himself, which is important.

Rogan is knowledgable, enthusiastic, and appeals to the prime demo UFC wants to attract. I dont think his lack of backround really matters.

Rogan is a great asset. He loves the sport and is as knowledgeable as any other broadcaster in the sport. Perhaps as important, he speaks clearly and intelligently.

He needs to emulate Brock Lesnar fucking him in the ass more, but other than that, he is good for the sport.

I dont' think you guys are really getting my point, this isnt is Rogan good or not, I think is does a pretty good job actually, but the point is for a sport to be credible shouldn't the analyst actually be credible?

Of course Joe is fun to listen to, passionate about the sport and is knowledgable to a degree, but a analyst should be able to draw from his experiences and Joe has no MMA experience, a lot different when say Mir can talk about trying to sweep a 250 lbs HW while getting punched compared to Joe pulling from what happened in BJJ class the other night

Look at every other sport, you have Super Bowl QB's, winning coaches, pro's who have done this there entire life, etc...when you have other sports with Troy Aikman breaking down the on field action who played and won at the highest level, or do you want a comedian with a brown belt in BJJ?

Rogan can't give you what Bas, Randy, Pulver, Pat, Frank, Mir, etc...give you, even if you don't 'like' listening to them, they have done it on that level, not just trained part time and watched a lot of fights

                            Just a thought
