football maybe more tactical and grueling since every yard counts but in rugby when you fall down the play doesnt stop you just become part of the ground and everyone else just continues to play

Rugby: Big, very strong men. If you can't run for 80 minutes straight, you can't play good rugby. Little safety gear, 2x40 minute periods. Multi skilled, super-fit athletes. No head-high tackles or tackles when ball carrier is in the air. Ball gets recycled after tackles in hotly contested ruck / maul situations. Sustained periods of scrumming / rucking / mauling uses every muscle in body for long periods of play. Exhausting aerobically and anaerobically. And still a lot of big hits.
American Football: Huge, super-strong men. 4x15 minute periods, with lots of additional stoppages. Focus on bursts of power and speed. No sustained periods of play. Much harder hits (because of impact-dispersing amour) but footballers have nowhere near the endurance level of rugby players. Potentially huge damage done to players bodies in blindside tackles on any given play. Pads help absorb impact, but MASSIVE impacts are common. Fatalities would occur every match without helmets, neck supports and pads.
A friend of mine who played both sports summed it up very well. After a football game, you hurt where you expect to hurt. After a rugby game, you hurt EVERYWHERE.

lol at the people saying that Rugby is a tougher game.

I wanna how your top Rugby players will fare when someone like Brandon Jacobs or Steven Jackson is running at them fullspeed with their shoulders lowered ready to truck them.
I'd also like to see how they would even get a hand on and successfully tackle someone like Willie Parker or Adrien Peterson.

So what Rugby doesn't use pads? People play tackle football all the time with no pads.

In the NFL you have the best athletes in the world coming at you with hard equipment on, and not every tackle is perfect. Which means that when you got a hard hitter like Ray Lewis, he's not gonna always hit you dead on your shoulderpads.
They're plenty of times when a helmet from a NFL player hits nothing but body on an opposing player.
If a RB gets the ball 20 times straight up the middle, on at least 8 of the carries somebody is gonna take their helmet or shoulderpads and hit him straight in the arm or hand where there's no protection.

"At the bottom of a rugby pile" lol, try being at the bottom of an NFL pile with 3-4 300 pound linemen laying on top of you.

                      How many rugby players have?

How many trainers would allow an NFL player to play with a torn scrotums?

How could a NFL player play with a torn scrotum?

How many normal men on the planet would want to do anything with a torn scrotum?

Doesn't mean that Rugby is a tougher sport.

i wasnt saying any rugby players could beat any football players just that rugby is a much more violent sport youve yet to prove that point wrong and the videos no longer available
