because in football, every play is like lifting your max weight for a couple of seconds, I've seen plenty of guys in rugby standing at the end of the line just standing or jogging, waiting to get the ball pitched to them, there is a lot of "standing around" in rugby, which gives them plenty of time to catch their breath too.
This is one of the rare time that Userpikk knows what he's talking about.

Anyone who is an athlete can tell you that it's harder to run full speed and then stop to catch your breath only to have to run full speed again.

That's like when we're doing sprints at practice, I'd much rather just run 800 yards non-stop then have to run 100's with breaks in-between them.
It's much harder to run full speed and then have to stop and try to control your breath.

Also even though Rugby is non-stop, a single player doesn't move 100% of the time. It's like soccer, people say it's alot of running but really like 70% of the time the ball is nowhere near you and you can rest.

In football you have to repeatdly go full speed only to stop try to control your breath and then repeat.

That's what I said earlier. I'd like to see the average rugby player try to get a hand on someone like Reggie Bush or Willie Parker.
They'd just shake them and then burn them with speed.

Just to clear everything up i really do love football and always have but, some how we got to which one was more violent. Even though I didnt care everyone else was on footballs side so i figured id pick rugby just to pass some time. I agree with most the arguments that people used for football and apologize if I ruffled anyones feathers.

If Brandon Jacobs was running at you full speed would you honestly want to touch any part of his body?

                          jackass,

how else are you going to tackle him?,

Laron Landry tried to get big this year and go head up, and we saw a human being get folded in half on Sunday Night Football with John Madden and Al Michaels.

everyone goes for Jacobs legs if they aren't jumping on his back, that's the only way your going to tackle him 90% of the time.

First off let me know when you grow up and can refrain from basic name calling............

You guys say it like going for his legs is as easy as 1 2 3 , even if you go for his legs you're gonna have hell bringing him down by yourself. If it were that easy then he wouldn't be trucking and running over people on a regular basis.

                            So once again

No that's where being a beast comes into play.

It doesn't matter if you use proper technique, bringing down a big and agile back still won't be easy.

So you telling me that if you(actually you) were to go for the legs of a big RB like Jerome Bettis, could you guarantee that you would bring him down?
