Hype is a beautiful thing when beating Fedor means less than beating hype job with 6 fights, amazing

Werdum is not the #1 heavy in the world.

Just like if Rogers ended up knocking Fedor out...he would have been ranked #1 either.

Now if Barnett didn't juice up, and instead beat Fedor...he WOULD have become the #1 guy.

One guy is unbeaten, and has never been challenged.

The other guy went 2-2 in the UFC, has four losses overall, and was a fringe top 10 heavyweight before he beat Fedor.

You would have been laughed out of the room if you suggested Werdum was possibly the best heavy in the world before that fight. You talk about "hype", yet you overhype Werdum based on one fight.

Who has been more impressive, Cain or Boredum, over their last 10 fights? Last 5? Last 3? Shit, who was more impressive in their last fight?

The answer to every question is Cain.

                    I still got Fedor #1.

He was so far out in front of the pack, he should have been -100. The loss to Boredum, a guy in that 7-10 range in flukey fashion merely brings him down to earth, not allows someone to overtake him.

I would have had Brock @ 2 prior to this fight...so, I guess by default it is Cain now.

Boredum probably comes in at 3. Overeem 4. Brock 5. JDS 6.

Exactly, you have to at least be able to sniff the top going into a fight with the #1 guy in order to take over the spot if you win.

Werdum was barely a blip on the map, and his win reeks of being a fluke anyway. Nothing fluky about what Cain just did.

I couldnt find a single major list where he was even as high as 7. Most places had him 9th or 10th at the time of the fight.

What are you lol'ing about? He was ranked anywhere from 8th to 10th to not ranked at all. That's the definition of 'fringe'.

I agree they are two different things, but 'who is the best' is one of the factors of 'who is #1'.

You cant jump that far, not with his resume. Missouri won't be #1 this week, Oregon will.

If we're talking strictly W/L....JDS may be the best heavyweight right now.
