UFC 129 Moved Up One Hour Earlier

UFC 129 Moved Up One Hour; Change to All PPV Start Times Being Considered -- MMA Fighting

The UFC has bumped up the start time of the UFC 129 PPV from 10 pm eastern to 9 pm eastern. As such, the potential Facebook and the Spike TV prelims are expected to air at 7 and 8 respectively.

The article hypothesizes that the decision was made in part because A) it could attract more east coast viewers (the normal PPVs end at 1am) and B) it may lead to more coverage from media with tighter deadlines.

They will consider doing this more often if not all the time in the future.

Whatever they choose to do, it needs to be consistant. No flip flopping.

It's permanent starting with 129 according to Dana.

It always stunned me that PPVs didn't start til 10 on the east coast. 8 PM mountain is perfect for me. 7 is a bit early, but whatever

I think its a good idea, 10PM is a pretty late time for these fights to be starting, but we've all been used to it for years. Pushing it up to 9PM will be better for everyone.. altho 6PM on the West Coast is probably a bit early.

            6pm ppv? Sounds super early.
Not terrible but sounds a bit early for that side.
Best reason to have a license.

May be a bit of a pain for some west coasters but they grew sick of not getting out of the east coast arenas until 2am after the post-fight pressers.

I doubt it has any significant impact on PPV buys, but you never know. Hopefully the majority of UFC fans are smarter than the majority of wrestling fans who always miss the message when a TV show is starting an hour earlier, no matter how many promos they're presented with.

West coasters are used to NFL at 11am, Monday Night Football at 5PM, and east coast team sports at 4PM, they will be fine with 6PM on Saturdays.

Yikes @ those times. Fuck the west coast.

Waking up at 9 am for pregame shows = lulz.
