What to see what is even more disgusting in all this.

    CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR

    FORWARDS
    Anze Kopitar ($6.800m) / Ryan Smyth ($6.250m) / Mike Richards ($5.750m)
    Dustin Penner ($4.250m) / Justin Williams ($3.650m) / Jarret Stoll ($3.600m)
    Dustin Brown ($3.175m) / Scott Parse ($0.900m) / Kyle Clifford ($0.870m)
    Kevin Westgarth ($0.525m)

    DEFENSEMEN
    Jack Johnson ($4.357m) / Willie Mitchell ($3.500m)
    Rob Scuderi ($3.400m) / Matt Greene ($2.950m)
    Davis Drewiske ($0.616m)

    GOALTENDERS
    Jonathan Quick ($1.800m) / Jonathan Bernier ($1.250m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $53,643,810; BONUSES: $135,000
    CAP SPACE (17-man roster): $10,656,190

Now Ryan Smyth may be on the move if all these reports are right, but if not, just look at that team AND they still have $10M to play with. LA was always a good team, they needed Quick to mature a little more, and with Kopitar out in the playoffs, they got goat fucked, but with that line up, can you say dark horse.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

    "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

I so freaking happy that Carter is gone, that asshole never scored a clutch goal in his entire career, SEE YA!

Now Richards on the other hand...something real serious must've happened behind the scenes to trade a guy who they continually said was going to be their captain for the next 10 years. I've read that him and Laviolette had some problems but who knows.

Carter and Richards gone...Brayden Schenn, Bryzgolov, and the 8th pick in...

Sounds like a -1 for Philly, IMO.

I'm a big time Simmonds fan but I think philly just got fleeced in these deals.

I really really have no idea what Holgrem is doing though. Unless there were some serious locker room issues I don't get trading your captain and assistant captain away and then signing a goalie to a long term deal which will then pay him a rediculous amount of money at the start and still cause the team to have serious cap issues.

            Leafs offseason training!

I get trading Carter, needed to free up some space and get something in return, I don't know anything about Voracek but the #8 pick will hopefully work out.

EDIT: Also, there were a LOT of complaints in the past about those two guys floating around and playing with no intensity or passion, Richards' play really dropped off last year after making a run for the Cup plus playing in the Olympics.

Can you really blame him for the amount of hockey he had played?

It's not uncommon with players who played that often, many of those guys got burnt out.

This shit is absurd. There has to be much more to this situation to trade these guys like this.

When you add in how much pressure was on the Olympic team and then his playoff run, you bet your ass he ran out of gas.

Look at Hossa. Guy played 3 straight stanley cup finals. He basicallyed played 4 regular seasons in 3 years.

From what I heard, Richards really distanced himself from the team last year

That's what I'm saying, I can't really blame it for him but his intensity level dropped big time also, and he wasn't turning out to be nearly anywhere near the leader everyone expected him to be.

Well, I've got a lot to say about this. Some of it will come off as ranting, but I need some vindication.

First- LOL to the Flyer fans on the two previous sites I've posted on. Those guys told me that Richards would be a better captain than Alexander Ovechkin. They said Carter and Richards would be together for a long time.

Wrong on both accounts. I think the trend that teams went on by naming a captain while they were young is not a smart decision. Ovechkin should not have been named captain when he did, neither should Richards and some Pens fans would argue Crosby as well. It is unfair to a young player to give them that responsibility.

Second, this appears to be a knee-jerk reaction by Flyers brass. Yes, I've heard rumors that Carter and Richards were more into the party scene than teams would like, but regardless, they made it deep into the post-season two years ago, and still made it this season. I realize the team needed salary cap help, but you can trade one of them, not both, especially not your captain.

Third, I have to LOL again. Yes, the Flyers needed a goaltender, and Bryzgalov is the best on the market. But, that also means that they need to clear more cap room, and I just have to laugh. In the past two seasons, Bryzgalov has been below average in the playoffs and has not taken control. For the Flyers right now, it doesn't matter what happens in the post-season- they are a good enough team to make it to the playoffs. What they need is that extra boost in the playoffs, and I'm not sure Bryzgalov will provide that.

Fourth, the LA Kings are looking extremely dangerous. The best part is that they still have a good portion of cap space to play around with. I will be watching what else they do this off-season.

Kings have got three centres now who can all command their own lines so I can see why trading Schenn was done. When they sign Drew Doughty long term they are probably going to wind up with $2-4m to use at next season's trade dealine.

The Blowjobs have given up an awful lot to put two goalscorers on the same line. I'm not utterly convinced that Nash and Carter are going to be a great fit.

Flyers I initially thought had made a collosal mistake. They could have saved themselves the gamble and kept Mike Richards but actually I think it looks quite good for them. No doubt Schenn is going to be an excellent player who could end up surpassing Richards and Carter's abilities, if their 8th overall pick from Columbus turns into your typical 8th overall veteran then this will look very good. Voracek is at a point now where he could either become a top player or start to fall into the bust category. And having done all this they've managed to cut out their cap woes.

Yeah that's the thing with pairing Carter and Nash, people do realize that Carter is absolutely NOT a passer, right? He doesn't make any 'wow' passes and 3/4 of his shots go high and wide.

Except Carter is 5th in goals scored in the last 3 years. Nash is right behind him at 6th overall.

Columbus needed a second goal scoring threat and they got it.

That works out nicely for them, but people are talking about putting them on the same line and I'm not sure that would work, but I've never gotten to see Nash play a whole lot so I could be completely wrong.
