Poor Averno. Probably stuck in a shitty spot now.

Shit, what does this mean for Averno?

Dude does a rush job and loses his mask, and now he may not even have a spot in the WWE.

I feel terrible for the guy.

I flipped CMLL on over the weekend, and Averno was cutting a promo.

Assume he's finishing up with them before eventually heading to WWE? But if there's no Sin Cara, there really is no point in Averno going there, is there?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, he's really getting fucked here. Remember, he basically held them up to drop the mask, or he was going to drop it for the highest indy bidder. There could be bad blood, and I'm sure he gave notice by now.

On the flip side, he's been awesome without the mask. I've never been more wrong. I thought he would bomb.

I don't know that charisma is his issue. I think it's that he's badly miscast as a heel. He needs to shave the beard and become a face that women and kids like.

You need some discernible charisma to be a face. For the past year, he's shown none.

I agree with dave. Gabriel is miscast. He used to get those shrieks from the girls on NXT. His charisma comes from his boyish charm, he's hardly believable as a dasterdly heel.

Has Gabriel ever been a "heel" though? Not really, IMO. He's just been a follower who gets clumped with heels. He never talks, never does anything really heelish. Just comes in, hits his 450 to end a match or a beat down and thats it.

I think Gabriel, Slater, Barrett are all about ready to get some singles burn for the better. Then in Punk's NXT, Hennig and Otunga will probably be paired with someone else as a tag team and Batista Jr. will get paired as someone else's muscle.

Most of these guys would greatly benefit from an ECW brand.

I actually miss the WWE's ECW brand, or that third brand in general...it gave these young guys a nice transition spot from FCW/Indies to the WWE roster all while giving the WWE audience a chance to get acclimated with them properly in their environment.

Lots of the young, top guys, were stars of that brand...and it worked out for the best for them. Miz, Punk, Morrison, Kofi, etc. That would be a great place for Gabriel, Slater, Hennig, Ryder, Otunga, Batista Jr., Hawkins, etc.

Batista Jr. is injured and won't be back for awhile.

                        Exactly.
Gabriel has the kind of look that teenage girls would love. And he has the in-ring skills to be in a better place than he's currently at. Even if he doesn't have upper-tier mic skills, the WWE could do a better job with him than they are. I'm not saying he's Ricky Steamboat (he's not) but certain guys are not meant to be heels.

                        Again, no homo. :D

I have no problem with Sin Cara, but he's neither new nor fresh. He's Rey Mysterio 15 years ago.
But I hope he rebounds, he's fun to watch.

Since Mysterio 15 years ago stopped being fresh around 1998-99 (not saying he's been bad since then...but injuries take their toll).

I think people are too hard on Mysterio. You can't be a spot monkey for 20 years - physically impossible. He makes kids happy and does his job.

All things considered, he's gotten a lot out of his body. Probably should have taken a long time off years ago to get whatever surgeries he has needed but they would always ask him to stay because the roster depth was shit.

Which is no doubt one of the reasons why they went out of their way to bring in Mistico. And of course, that has not worked out like they thought it would.
