He'd probably come back too. He talks about how much he misses the Premiership in the Italian press on a daily basis. I think he'd love the chance to get one over on Chelsea and Man Utd

Agree. I also think the main reason his tactics work in Europe is because Liverpool usually has enough talent to field a pretty good 1st team, but they never have any depth. If they play their best players, they usually could compete with anyone. And I think Reina was a big factor because he was so good at saving penalty kicks, Liverpool could try to send the game to penalties as a strategy.

Even at Valencia his tactics were always to sit with 10 behind the ball and be solid in defense and hope to steal a goal at some point. He never was a risk taker tactically which is why is suprises me that he is willing to feild such an average defense game in game out [not counting Reina]

He won't get the Chelsea job again, I know how in-out managers are with Abramovich but he looks really keen/set on Ancelotti and in all fairness he has done the best with the team since the loss of Jose.

Now then as a United fan, I don't want to see Sir Alex retire anytime soon although I question his tactics sometime like most supporters of clubs the guy is the best manager of all time, records and trophies can back that statement up and yes you can say he has had the money backing but he built this club up to what it is today after the downfall years after the Busby years.

If Alex retires I don’t see it being at the end of next year, it will not be 100% after this season and really I don't see Jose hanging around in Italy for the next three-four seasons just so he can take over at United. As we all know he wants to come back to England so if Liverpool came open I wouldn’t put it past him.

I never said either of those teams would want him. I just think he would love the chance to come back to England and beat Man U and Chelsea two times a year plus possible cup games. I think he's done with Italy after this year especially if they can win the champions league

I didn't say you did, I was just explaining how I thought both teams wouldn't hold a place for Jose. Inter Milan wont win the Champions League, there are better teams in there still.

                        Real are out

Like I said, they will win nothing this year. [Barca will move ahead in the league soon too]

I LOL'd at Real bringing on Diarra at the end of the game. What was his role...to protect the star players if the fans stormed the pitch?

All those millions spent and Real can't deliver against Lyon, poor!

I saw that. It reminded me of Rafa bringing Arbeloa on in the 91st minute v AC Milan in the champions league final that they lost.

                              Makes no sense

Another for loss for Liverpool. Although I did read Lille has only lost once at home this season and has scored in 20 of their last 21 games. Still though would've been nice to see Liverpool get an away goal.

Also, I think the problem with Gerrard is age. Bighouse, myself and another friend were discussing this last night and we all agreed that Gerrard may just not be the player he once was. However its hard to accept when basically the guy who is Liverpool through and through and my favorite player is on the downhill part of his career. I hope I'm wrong and Gerrard bounces back next season, but it seems unlikely.
