Has anyone actually seen Qatar's bid?
Cons: Only three stadiums are actually built, and they need renovating. Qatar's diminutive size means most venues are located within a 38-mile radius, so teams might need to share facilities. Not desirable. Average temperatures in June and July can top 105 degrees. What's more, projected revenue doesn't match that of the U.S. And Qatar's soccer team is ranked 113th in the world, by far the worst of any team involved in the process.
If FIFA makes the right choice, England or Spain/Portugal and USA or Austrailia should win out.Comment

2022 should go to either Australia (Proven track record of hosting major events, doubt we'll ever see a better Olympics in our life time than Sydney 2000) or the United States (Would've been 28 years since 1994, and they still hold the average attendance record for the World Cup, and that was when no one gave a shit about Soccer).
Weren't Qatar just going to set up a bunch of temporary stadiums made out of giant Lego pieces and dismantle them at the end of the tournament?
2018 should be a straight toss up between Spain and Portugal (although FIFA apparently don't like joint bids anymore) and England.

Would and should are entirely different. We all know this is a game of horsetrading, and it's quite likely Spain/Portugal and Qatar have already traded votes (regardless of a FIFA investigation).

Russia has long been rumoured to be the favorite for 2018, but the Iberians think they have the votes already locked up. Hopefully Spain/Portugal gets it, because some of the Russian host cities are a bazillion miles apart. England is out because of FIFA's distaste for investigative journalism. No matter what they say, if Sepp has to cast a tying vote between England and ANYONE else, his picking Anyone.
2022 is a bit closer. Korea and Japan are out. I think it comes down to US, Qatar and Australia. Qatar is throwing money at it, and in FIFA land, that often works. Australia is a long shot, but I'd love for them to get it. In the long run, wouldn't be surprised if the US takes it home thoughComment
