Hmmmmm @ Starrcade 86.
I'm leaning no.
I thought the promo work for Skywalkers was better than the actual match or event...although, Jim Cornette never being able to walk right again after that match is lol worthy.
That was supposed to be the night they elevate Magnum to superstar status. A shame.Comment

I'll throw it out there...WrestleMania I.
Event wasn't good, but obviously historically significant.

You should know more than me about this warner but what about NOAH's 2005 Destiny show. Had a bunch of huge matches (KENTA's junior title win, Kobashi vs. Sasaki, Misawa vs. Kawada, the Suzuki/Marufuji tag, the Rikio/Tanahashi GHC title match) and between the first three matches mentioned, all were quality.

Obviously it deserves inclusion. I have trouble remembering these japanese shows until I look them up. I plan on diving in head first and researching them. I'm working on New Japan first. I'm going through the Jan.4/WrestleKingdom shows right now.Comment

Be pretty picky.
Write up a list of shows and try and whittle them down a little bit to the best of the best or most important.Comment

For example, when I looked up the Starrcades, it was like "wow, yeah ok, I remember that show, fuck yes, that's a lock, we're retarded for overlooking that", and instantly recalled all the big matches.
I think part of the problem, is we watch these japanese shows weeks/months/years after the fact, plus we aren't in the culture and have a weaker grasp of the hype levels and signifigance. We already know what was good, what sucked, and what to skip.
I know I'm forgetting stuff. I'm not someone who remembers what was on what show very well, my mind files this stuff away differently.Comment

Anything new on this front, gentlemen.
Things we can take off?
Things we can add?
Haven't had a whole lot of time to go through it more, just wondering if you mopes have?Comment

I downloaded a bunch of jap shows I've never seen that got big time reviews. I want to watch them before I give them my stamp of approval. I can't co sign something I've never seen. Singular matches isn't fair.Comment

Shouldn't Starrcade 97 be considered if significance is a factor? Considering it was the beginning of the end for WCW? I looked through the thread and couldn't find the entire criteria you are using.
From a wrestling standpoint the show pretty much stunk IIRC, you had Goldberg vs. McMichael, Bagwell vs. Luger, Bischoff vs. Zybsko, but the Hogan/Sting thing was big and historically significant..Comment
