      Hmmmmm @ Starrcade 86.

      I'm leaning no.

I thought the promo work for Skywalkers was better than the actual match or event...although, Jim Cornette never being able to walk right again after that match is lol worthy.

That was supposed to be the night they elevate Magnum to superstar status. A shame.

        I'll throw it out there...WrestleMania I.

Event wasn't good, but obviously historically significant.

        Thoughts?

It is a work in progress, bruh.

Not going to assemble this thing in one shot. Especially the WWE's list...it'll take some revision due to sheer volume.

AWA Superclash (September 28 1985, Comiskey Park, att. 21,000)

-AWA, NWA, World Class co promotion featured TEN title matches

-Jumbo Tsuruta, Giant Baba, Tenryu, and Mil Mascaras worked the show

-Road Warriors def. Freebirds via DQ (AWA World Tag Team Title match)

-Rick Martel DDQ Stan Hansen (AWA World Title)

Looking back, my god was this loaded with multiple generations of talent and just about all of the non WWF stars of the era.

You should know more than me about this warner but what about NOAH's 2005 Destiny show. Had a bunch of huge matches (KENTA's junior title win, Kobashi vs. Sasaki, Misawa vs. Kawada, the Suzuki/Marufuji tag, the Rikio/Tanahashi GHC title match) and between the first three matches mentioned, all were quality.

This won WO Best Major Show of the Year for 2005.

Obviously it deserves inclusion. I have trouble remembering these japanese shows until I look them up. I plan on diving in head first and researching them. I'm working on New Japan first. I'm going through the Jan.4/WrestleKingdom shows right now.

                      Be pretty picky.

Write up a list of shows and try and whittle them down a little bit to the best of the best or most important.

Yeah, I gotta be honest, I looked at the Jan4/WK history, and while I found many memorable matches, none of the shows as a whole stood out. And this is about shows.

For example, when I looked up the Starrcades, it was like "wow, yeah ok, I remember that show, fuck yes, that's a lock, we're retarded for overlooking that", and instantly recalled all the big matches.

I think part of the problem, is we watch these japanese shows weeks/months/years after the fact, plus we aren't in the culture and have a weaker grasp of the hype levels and signifigance. We already know what was good, what sucked, and what to skip.

I know I'm forgetting stuff. I'm not someone who remembers what was on what show very well, my mind files this stuff away differently.

Anything new on this front, gentlemen.

                          Things we can take off?
                          Things we can add?

Haven't had a whole lot of time to go through it more, just wondering if you mopes have?

I downloaded a bunch of jap shows I've never seen that got big time reviews. I want to watch them before I give them my stamp of approval. I can't co sign something I've never seen. Singular matches isn't fair.

Shouldn't Starrcade 97 be considered if significance is a factor? Considering it was the beginning of the end for WCW? I looked through the thread and couldn't find the entire criteria you are using.

From a wrestling standpoint the show pretty much stunk IIRC, you had Goldberg vs. McMichael, Bagwell vs. Luger, Bischoff vs. Zybsko, but the Hogan/Sting thing was big and historically significant..

but Sting/Hogan was one of the biggest dissapointments of all time, awful awful finish, and an asinine use of a white hot Bret Hart, considering he was coming off of the montreal incident. It was a blueprint for how NOT to do a finish.

WMI changed the business in terms of PPV, Starrcade 97 just made u feel like u wasted $30
