    Top 3

Calgary is of course #1, as they made themselves not just divison winners, but cup contenders.
Phoenix is #2 by making a lot of depth gains in exchange for guys who didn't want to be there.

I don't think there is a clear #3, and I can't put Toronto into that mix until something comes out of it. Penguins and Bruins I'd say are #3 right now, and you could maybe add Ottawa in that for getting a pick and finally a goalie they have never had.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

    "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

          definitely

Calgary was the best buyer getting back Leopold and getting Jokinen, as well as getting a 3rd round pick back from the 1st they lost. great move there.

Bruins did well too adding Recchi and Montador (Cup winners).

Coyotes as mentioned sold better than anyone, as well the Leafs saved face getting those 3 picks for the players that needed to be dealt. Would have liked to see more action from Toronto tho.

A lil credit to the Habs for getting Schnieder (as he's turned that team around) and to the Blue Jackets as Vermette should blossom well under Hitchcock and give them a lil extra firepower as they progress as a team.

          Worst move of the day?

I'd go with Pens giving up a 5th (up to 2nd) pick for Guerin. He's DONE. Stop trading for this bum.

yeah, top 2 is easy, number 3 is hard to decide, but calgary is defintly my favorite (behind detroit obviously) to win the cup

vermette has been a favorite player of mine, ever since our mm league, he lit it up for me and was phenomenal on faceoffs, obviously the game and RL are different, but im still a huge fan, and with steve mason playing lights out consistently, leclaire was sitting around collecting dust, moving him now before he loses stock is a great move for columbus. if vermette gets signed ill prolly pick up his jersey haha

random question though, was last years deadline like 5-6 oclock? would that lead to the less trades this year? or am i just mis-remembering?

BTW acquiring two 2nd rounders for Moore and Antropov IMO has to be considered a success.

Kinda a lame trade deadline this year, with the biggest move being the Flames acquiring Olli Jokinen. He should be great playing along side Jarome Iginla.

Nope 3pm has been like that for as long as I remember.

Trades can still happen after 3pm, as long as they've been in talks prior to 3pm.
