For all the grief Cena gets, I thought he did a great job tonight ... and you can't deny his work ethic.
I've never denied his work ethic.
That was a great match. I loved the sequence they did where Punk reversed the firemans carry into the G2S, then Cena rolled the G2S attempt into a STF. Totally stole it from KENTA/Nakajima, because it was the same exact sequence and Punk is a KENTA mark, but it was still awesome and probably the coolest thing Cena has ever done in a ring.

John Cena the man seems like a standup, classy guy and more wrestlers should strive to be like him. It's really hard to dislike him.
John Cena the character is where the grief is because his character has been run into the ground and he's still booked like Hulkamania. It's very easy to dislike him. However, he pulled his weight tonight and made it a memorable match.

If I knew what the hell you were talking about, I'd give you + rep. Of course I don't.

Punk is clearly influenced by KENTA, and the one series of reversals in the Cena match was taken directly from a KENTA vs. Nakajima match in 2009. I'm not knocking him for it, because the spot is great.
When Punk first came to ECWWE in 2005, his entire move set and ring gear was pretty much a carbon copy of KENTA. Again, i'm not knocking him for it, because "borrowing" shit from other guys is something that happens in wrestling all the time. Especially when you are taking something from Japan, because 99% of the fans won't know, so it doesn't matter.
btw - was that also Ace Steel in the front row next to Colt?
Pretty sure Punk signed an extension at the very least, if not an actual contract, otherwise, they wouldn't give him the title. Probably signed Cabana as a result, considering that interview pretty much said Punk has no friends in the WWE (lol).
