Looks like Joe, which i'm fine with, but i'd rather see Angle since we've seen Joe vs. Aries before in a long championship match.

sidenote-fuck you for finding/posting that match, and reminding me how bad ROH is these days. HOLY SHIT do I miss vintage ROH.

I'm not even going to watch it or else I may start crying.

Oh, btw, best way to increase your live attendance and your TV is to have Kevin Steen punch people in the front row. (They were plants, but like... what the hell is the point?)

****'s with both going half speed.

But, if I could get a redux of this as the main event of Bound for Glory...I'd be quite happy, too.

What a great match that was. Joe as the unstoppable champ, Aries with no answers. Gabe & Punk on commentary lololol. Gabe like a modern day Vince, cutting off Punk over & over to get the storyline over. Refreshing to hear guys calling MOVES and talking strategy to get the psychology over.

Everybody should watch that before ROH takes it down. So good.

The problem, is punching out fans just makes him even more of an anti hero. He needs to go full ECW Cactus Jack and do the opposite of what got him over, not feed into it.

Or, just let the fans do what they want organically. Heel, face, who cares? Walk a new (old) path here and just go with the flow.

Let's put our business hats on though. How is faking a stunt where you punch fans in the front row going to help your business? If anything people not in the know may be genuinely scared or deterred from going to future shows. It's Russo-esque WORKED SHOOT bs that does nothing for business.

W2B and FedEx, if you had to break down your top 3 MOST FAVORITE eras/storylines/periods/whatever in ROH history, what would they be?

Fans like seeing asshole fans get their asses kicked. I remember being at an ROH show where an unruly fan was doing stupid shit, so they sent Joe out to scare the living fuck out of him. The guy left the building.

If this stunt was intended to get Steen some boos, it makes no sense. Half the people won't care, the other half just think he's even cooler and tougher than he was before.

The problem is that Steen is just too personable in the first place. He'll punch dudes in the front row out, but then hang out with some fans after the show. LOL.

That's another aspect too. I understand the "everything is OUT OF CONTROL" angle, but these are 19-35 year old fans. They don't really give a shit, they'll cheer things getting out of control while anyone else who just came to watch that very well could say "Shit, I don't feel safe there" and never come back for another show.

No one was ever too scared to not go to an ECW show because New Jack or Bubba Ray Dudley were there. New Jack would whoop a kid's ass for real and Bubba would throw drinks at dudes and push kids getting in his face. No one ever stayed away because of it.

Its just a heel or dangerous anti-hero tactics to instill that imminent fear for their character...its not like anyone takes it seriously.

                          A) Different eras B) Different crowd makeup and C) ECW is probably not the best business model to emulate.

They are a company owned by a television company. Any sort of bad publicity, bad news, fear of anything makes it even easier for Sinclair to pull the plug on what I'd imagine is an asset very far in the red.

04-08 or so was the peak. Not even '08, probably right around FACTION WARZ is when it started to slip, but when Gabe was fired and Pearce turned it into a 70's territory it was over.

I loved Bryan Danielson's title run. From babyface overachiever to smarmy tweener to "Best in the World". At least a half dozen people had the best match of their career against Danielson during this period, from Delirious to Jimmy Rave to Takeshi Morishima to everybody in between.

Ive talked about the Danielson/Morishima feud before in this thread.

Also, El Genrico's run in the 2007 (or was it 2006?) Race to the Top. He didn't win, but his run to the final got him over more than the person who did. Can't give credit to Gabe for that one, because Generico is so fucking good that anybody can book him in an underdog storyline and look like a genius.

The CZW feud. Duh. Both companies deserve credit for allowing each other to "win" on the other's home turf. That's the key to any invasion/war angle getting over. Put away the ego and let the other side look good in front of your fans. Chris Hero went from indie geek to star.

Also, the weekend when Misawa came in. That's like seeing Mickey Mantle or Michael Jordan. Nobody cared that he was old and fat and a half cripple. I've told the story many times, but even Morishima came out from the back to watch the Misawa/KENTA match, and he gave me the chair he was standing on (the entire place stood, most on their chairs, from bell to bell, every chair taken) while he watched on his toes.

Also, the four way in Philly that Tyler Black won to earn a title shot against Nigel later that night. Star making performance in the main event. Nigel was awesome in making Black shine. Nobody thought Black had a chance in the four way, most people thought Go Shiozaki was going to win. Then he came a hair away from winning the belt, and Nigel had the whole place believing. Gabe got canned before the Tyler Black thing played out, and Pearce waited too long and blew it.

Cant narrow down to three. Too hard. I'd really have to think about it.

Also, Sweet & Sour Inc, with Larry Sweeney managing about a million people at one point, but he main core group with Sweeney as the "agent", Chris Hero, Sara Del Rey, Bobby Dempsey, and Tank Toland as the "personal trainer" with everybody abusing Dempsey. Then the whole story of Matt Sydal/Evan Bourne turning heel and Sweeney brokering his deal with WWE, the Daniel Puder thing, the Claudio feud, and then the ridiculousness of half the roster in the group towards the end with Davey, Eddie Edwards, Adam Pearce, Brent Albright, etc etc.

This guy should have been rich by now, managing a heel Daniel Bryan in WWE, or better yet, Hero, Claudio & Del Rey. There is no youtube video that can even do this man justice tbh.
