cm punk crashed wwe/mattel panel at comic con

This afternoon, with yours truly present, CM Punk crashed the the joint Mattel/WWE panel – WWE: Past, Present and Future – at San Diego Comic-Con, featuring WWE superstars Triple H, Rey Mysterio and the legendary Bret Hart.

Punk announced himself via bullhorn and then, with WWE Title in hand, took to the designated question-asking mic and began to awesomely speechify! Punk took exception to the fact that they were trying to crown a new champ on RAW and then challenged Rey, or anyone else who wanted to be champ, to head out to Chicago to take him on.

Punk then also asked Triple H and RAW writer Brain Gewirtz why Zack Ryder wasn't on TV. Triple H, in what seemed to be a part of a storyline, told Punk that things had changed on RAW and that there was a new regime. He told Punk to give him a call. Punk responded by telling Hunter that he was sure Stephanie had his number

There were WWE cameras there so this has to make air.

A little idea...thoughts on it are appreciated...

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman recently met up with the WWE...thoughts of Paul Heyman swinging this idea out there?

This is very against the WWE grain, as they are proud to be in their little bubble. This is going way outside of the bubble and considering Zack Ryder has built quite the following for himself OUTSIDE of the bubble too, is there any chance a guy like Heyman threw this idea out there to go a bit viral with Punk with the title?

Nothing is impossible, but after calling Steph a cunt on his last day and quitting on the spot, i'd have to think Heyman isn't the first number in the McMahon rolodex. Vince buries hatchets, but we don't know the Steph/Hunter midset on that. Who knows. The best part is wrestling has some juice again and has people speculating.

Heyman's always been a forward thinker...most of the decision makers in the WWE are not. So, when this idea, which is very forward thinking, happens and couple it with a reported meeting with Heyman and Lesnar a little bit ago, I'm just saying it seems a bit curious.

CM Punk didn't challenge HHH when he said there was a new leader in town. Punk has signed something. I suspect the WWE is gonna keep this viral for a while, then Punk will show up.
Frankly, I'd wait to WM and see if Stone Cold would go one more time ... but I don't think the WWE will be that patient.

Frankly, I think the WWE should let Punk make some ROH appearances with the belt, just to keep this fresh. ROH can't really hurt the WWE, after all, and frankly it's good for the WWE to have an ROH around so they can have a talent feeder.

Pretty widly thought that WWE has a vested intrest in ROH at this point

lol, of course he has. There is no way they would have let him win the match and walk off with the belt if he hadn't signed something.

As for the bold, I believe that's the plan.

Here you go dave, from Bryan Alvarez:

When does Punk return? Who knows? He has signed something with WWE, and I say with as much certainty as I can guarantee without having seen a contract with my own two eyes. Whether it's a contract that kicks in on a certain date (as of two weeks ago he was believed to be out until early 2012, but based on Sunday I'd be surprised if he was out more than a month or so) or some other deal that ties him up, he's guaranteed not signing with TNA (he wouldn't anyway), he's guaranteed not signing with ROH or New Japan, he's guaranteed not signing anywhere. My personal belief, as noted a few weeks back, is that he re-signed a little while back, because the idea that he was going to be the focal point that they built the entire company around for weeks leading into his final day was impossible to believe. Him leaving with the title sealed the deal. There is zero chance, and I mean zero, that Vince was letting a guy on his legitimate last night in the company leave with the championship. This would be a move unprecedented in the entire history of the organization under McMahon, and he wasn't making an exception for Punk, no matter how great he has been. Now, could he show up in ROH? Perhaps. There are people in WWE who don't know this but strongly suspect there is some sort of working agreement between ROH and WWE. There are people in ROH who think so as well, and also people on both sides who insist there isn't.
And to me, this is the most interesting tidbit:

But I was told flat-out that in the next six weeks, many of the things that Punk talked about in that epic promo two weeks ago are going to find their way onto WWE television, which also speaks to the fact that it was not, in fact, an unscripted promo where the company had no idea what he was going to say. He talked about HHH taking over, and lo and behold, HHH has taken over. He talked about John Laurinaitis and two weeks later Laurinaitis was on TV. He talked about Colt Cabana, and Colt, while unmentioned by the announcers, was not only in the front row giving Punk a high-five at the PPV, but also celebrating around Chicago later in the evening, a celebration recorded by TMZ.com. And he mentioned ROH. All I know is that this was not unplanned.

--Which reminds me of a story. A group of wrestlers from a major promotion were watching a recent UFC PPV show together. The phone rang on one of the guys' cell phones and he left. At this point, the championship match had just ended and Dana White was in the cage putting the belt on the champion. Then the guy came back in the room and said, "That was Dana, he just called me because he wanted me to fight in UFC."
                              oh, Kurt.

It's good business sense. A somewhat independent company developing talent for them is important.
