LOL, the biggest TV ratings, the biggest PPV buyrates, the highest attendance, all of these things happened after 1997 when Austin got his push, and all of these things cycled back down after the heel turn, not to mention Austin is the biggest merch pusher of all time, and you want to downplay his impact and spread the credit.
I'd think you were trolling if I didn't know any better.
1996, shit. Austin push from 1997-2001, biggest boom period ever, every business record broken or shattered. Austin heel turn and later retirement, business cycles down.
C'mon man. Get lost with this Triple H/Undertaker/Goldberg shit. None of them touch the impact Austin had.
As for Austin being the biggest merch pusher...lets not forget the WWE has never created MORE merch than for this guy...he had a new shirt every month lololol.
I'm not downplaying his impact...sadly, you are too dumb in this conversation to understand it while reguritate your WWE DVD level education...you are downplaying the impact of everything before it and the players of the same era, that maintained the same, AND HIGHER buyrates and ratings in Austin's absence as well as major business in another company...but you can continue with that idea that Austin popped the market share of wrestling all by himself.Comment

So, Steve Austin popped a huge Starrcade buyrate? Steve Austin took 3.5M viewers on Monday Night in 1996 and turned them into over 7M by the end of 1997? Buyrates actually started to grow in late 1997 across the board. Exploded with Starrcade and it continued into WrestleMania.
What happened in 97 and 98...WCW had their hottest angle (Sting/Hogan...the precursor to any success the WWF had)...the WWE hired Mike Tyson for WrestleMania...Steve Austin and The Rock took off...Goldberg would be as big as anyone in the middle of 1998.
You are so lost in this conversation its sad.
-Who is the biggest PPV draw of all time?
-Who drew the biggest TV ratings during the Monday Night Wars?
-Who was the biggest house show draw of the period?
-Who sold more merch than anybody else, ever?
-Who was the top star and main eventer for all but 8 months of the most successful five year period in wrestling history?
-Whose push catapulted WWE past WCW for good?
Austin was the biggest draw, period. End of story. Not worthy of discussion, even though i've wasted two hours doing this. But to be honest, i'm not even sure what you are arguing at this point. That other people were stars? Ok. That other people were stars before Austin took off? Noted. Not sure what that has to do with Austin being the biggest star of that period, by a pretty sizable margin over #2 (The Rock).Comment

Equate Austin to biggest house show draw while Rock is on the same card? Yeah, makes a whole lot of sense.
Biggest PPV Draw of All-Time? Right now? Probably The Rock. Headlined every WrestleMania Austin was in that did big business...was the featured match with Hogan in Toronto...was the featured guy for Cena-Rock (highest grossing WWE PPV EVA).
Who drew the highest ratings on TV...depends...Austin, Rock, Triple H. All depends on the time you want to focus on. All had the ball during the period and had huge ratings.
Equate Austin to being the reason 10M+ eyes are on wrestling when half are on another company? Yeah, makes a whole lot of sense.
Who was the top star and main eventer...top star was given to numerous guys throughout the time period (nWo, Sting, Goldberg, Austin, Rock, Triple H) we are talking about and main event was divided up even more! Yeah, makes sense.
Whose push catapulted WWE past WCW for good...Mick Foley, actually.
You are running out of bullets here, hermano...Comment
