FWIW...Brock Lesnar last year popped a ~35% increase at the gate for Extreme Rules and in buyrate for the PPV and had a ~30% increase in buyrate for Summerslam.
Lesnar is a draw in his own right.
In comparison, Rock had a ~15% increase in buys for Survivor Series 2011 and a ~25% increase for WrestleMania.
Lesnar-Rock would have been a big draw. I think it could pop a bigger buyrate than Rock-Cena.Comment

That's fine.
Then what do you do with Cena?
Lesnar has a ready made match with Trips, or Undertaker as a longshot.
Personally, I believe Lesnar/Undertaker is the biggest match they have in the company, and it's what I would have built to for the last year.Comment

I think you could have easily transitioned to a Lesnar-Undertaker match.
Quick fantasy booking.
Similar angle to last night...lights go out, you have Michael Cole go bonkers saying its the Shield...lights go on, Rocky is down...
Vince comes out does his spiel, and similarly to tonight on RAW...Lesnar comes out from the back and attacks Vince before the show goes off the air. BOOM...Lesnar/Rock for WrestleMania.
Punk v. Cena for the belt.
Taker v. JerichoComment

Also to be considered, is that the three year plan was likely Rock beats Cena, Cena gets his win back the next year, everybody profits.Comment

Not considered in discussions of last year's WM buyrate...if you recall, there was big time rumors of Brock returning AT WrestleMania...perhaps that also led to the bump in business? I doubt it, but its something to consider.
I'm don't disagree with going Rock-Cena, I'm just saying, they didn't book themselves into a corner where that was the only possible thing they could have done. They had options...Comment

Here's hoping the Law of Diminishing Returns takes effect when people start drifting away from the product because of the unkept promises told about "who's gonna show up?" AND the actual result.
I get there's going to be fake lists of entrants for shit like The Rumble (Carlito, DX, Benjamin and Morrison were ghosts) and Vince has an affinity for pissing off the IWC with his habit of changed endings.
But when's it going to end?
Swerves are great in the right context but if all you do is swerves, it pisses people off.Comment

Some of those guys may be returning but if they all do so during the Rumble, takes away from the deal. Plus, who knows what's legit news instead of someone working the legit reporters.
But hell, Brock & Jericho returning this weekend is great.
FWIW, Meltzer hinted Friday or Saturday that something would happen Monday to get people talking...he was right.
Aside from all this, I absolutely loved Heyman's stuff in the final segment. That guy is pure 100% gold.

Let's not forget that Taker probably wants someone super safe to work with. That's why a lot of people had mentioned Cena earlier in the year but Punk now seems more likely. As awesome as a Lesnar/Taker match would be, Lesnar is too wild and takes far too many chances to be in the ring with a dude who has to muster up all his energy just to wrestle one night a year.Comment

Observer poll: 88% thumbs up
Meltzer: Rock vs Punk, ****
lol
I don't know, I guess i'm in the minority and larry is in the super minority. I don't get it.Comment
