WAIT A MINUTE...
Did Randy Orton just improvise when Batista fell off the rope? All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.
"rammer" and "cummings"
The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.Comment

This was one of the weirdest Mania's I've ever seen. It started off fine...Bryan with a nice win in a good match...THE SHIELD in a squash...Cesaro wins. Crowd is buzzing. It all falls apart after that. The Cena-Wyatt match was just fuckin weird. I hate these overblown story-filled matches. The Undertaker-Lesnar match is nothing short of a disaster. Terrible match. Worst possible finish. The Divas match was terrible. The championship match was overbooked to smithereens.Comment

Bryan got what everyone was hoping he'd get for a coronation as the new THE guy in WWE, especially with the foreshadowing of the Cena midcard legacy match. But what people are going to remember this Mania for is Lesnar upsetting Taker from now until the end of time.Comment

Weird is fucking right but I'm going with an above average show. Memorable, historic...
Cena/Wyatt was indeed weird. Obviously, they plan to do a few months worth of stuff between the two. It never really got going but it wasn't bad. Typically, you don't want that sort of stuff on WM and since Cena won, wtf? No better than ***.
The battle royal was perfect in making Cesaro a star.
Shield looked great.
Bryan was the MVP of the night for obvious reasons. Match with HHH was good, not great, even with them having to sell the shoulder deal. The main event got rolling in the second half, the crowd came alive, the false finish with Orton RKO'ing Batista was outstanding. Bryan getting the win over Batista not Orton was weird and we got the big celebration to close it out.
As for Taker. Much depends on what happens tomorrow. I'm assuming Taker called this now because he plans to have his final match at WM 31, so when the time comes, the talk is not exclusively about 22-0. Now, if he decided that tonight was the final time, well, I can accept that. Streak being broken was not going to happen to an up and comer like Cesaro/Sheamus/Ziggler, only a big guy like Cena would have had he honor. My one criticism is how they portrayed Brock as a chicken shit heel leading up to WM and not an unstoppable monster. But, we'll see what's in store tomorrow.

As a stand-alone, I love that finish. UT looks damn-near 70 and can't go in the ring anymore. He just can't. When Brock is helping Taker, call it a career. That is pretty backwards, and I'm sure he wouldn't want it that way, being a prideful true professional. And the beast that Brock is is the most believable guy to break the streak. A legitimate athlete with outside credentials beating a broken down shell of Taker after he puts up an admirable effort. But they built Brock up like total dogshit. The UFC staredown was the shit when it happened, and if the build had lived up to that, I don't think anyone would be complaining right now. I still think that old, rusty Taker beating Brock just doesn't pass the "suspend disbelief" eyeball test. So I've got no problem with it. Heyman sold it amazingly, as did Brock, and especially the crowd. It was an awe-inspiring moment. They made the best of a bad situation and an even worse match. Props.Comment

Considering its wrestling and not a real sport...you should be telling the dream stories. You shouldn't be shooting for true to life story of Fedor where an epic legacy ends with a flash loss.Comment

I have thought a bit about what I just watched......and I really felt I was suckered into watching a four hour Monday Night Raw. Right down to the way the matches were laid out through the card, it felt like a Raw.
Very disappointed in Cena and Husky Harris. I will never, ever get the Wyatts, and even though the crowd might have been into it, that match was the drizzling shits.
The whole Taker thing will be beaten to death, but if the streak was ending, it should have been to someone who would have run with the momentum. The problem is that if they put Taker with someone who could use that momentum, like Danielson or Castignoli, the whole crowd knows they are getting the win, unless they run a program over two Wrestlemanias with them.
Main event outcome saved the show, but they were really lucky the crowd got back into it near the end.Comment

The show is getting rave reviews. All time best Mania level raves.
I don't get it. In ring, very mediocre show. Not a single great match imo. Plenty of great and/or memorable moments. Losing the streak in such a terrible match fell flat. I hated the main event. A total clusterfuck Attitude Era trash match, but they needed to do that to get the crowd back after the Taker debacle.
Lots of "storytelling" tonight. Not my bag.Comment

As I'm discussing with Empire in the chatborx...I have no problem with Lesnar beating Taker...but it wasn't done right, IMO. As it stands, it just looks like a flash victory that looks super awkward on screen. If it was Taker's last match...cool...but if so, the match wasn't constructed in a way that appeals to my sensibilities. In the Michaels and Flair retirement matches, the old bastards showed some final FIGHTING SPIRIT before they finally succumbed to the better man. Considering The Undertaker has eaten all sorts of ridiculous shit over the last five years, losing in such an underwhelming fashion just doesn't appeal to me at all. Even if you go with the "he's too old and broken for this shit" angle, then the match needs to be constructed a lot better. Lesnar needs to fuckin STEAMROLL the guy to the point he's broken and beaten.

It had some "moments"...whether good or bad...that made it memorable...but how this show is considered great is beyond me. The last half took me out of what was...a nice high after the first half of the show. Cena-Wyatt took the energy out of me...Taker-Lesnar kicked me in the balls...Bryan winning the title was awesome, but the match was such an overbooked clusterfuck...the prior 30 minutes to Bryan winning the title was a predictable bore...and I don't mind predictable, as long as its done well.Comment

Not a single match the will crack the WWE's Top 10 this year. I mean, on my #list, the best Mania match (Bryan v. Triple H) is currently sitting at #9 out of 9 matches listed.

We are getting answers like "10+", and "Infinity".
People LOVED this show.Comment

They were kinda painted into a corner, even before the possibility of him calling it quits. He looked so done. I don't know if he had it in him to go much longer. The match layout could have been different, but regardless I don't think they could have put on a much better match. And thats considering the match was pretty bad as is. Maybe have him hit the SSP to put the nail in the coffin, but as is the THREE F-5s is pretty good measure. The problem with any streak is that there's never a perfect way to end it. Whenever you choose to, whoever you choose to do it with will be criticized to no end. Same thing happened with Goldberg, to a lesser extent Samoa Joe, to a much lesser extent Ryback. The build sucked, but the timing and opponent both worked pretty well for me. Whoever beat him at this point, it wasn't going to be a great match. He's not that guy anymore. Maybe DB could have gotten a smoke and mirrors great match out of him, but as a stand-alone, the Brock moment was pretty cool with me. Genuine shock resonnated in a big building with a huge crowdlike we've never really seen before. And it wasn't a Fingerpoke of Doom silence that insulted the audience for no reason. It made sense given all the parts.
IMO, not the kind of shock you should be looking for, either.Comment
