Hey Fed, Pollock got a (in-character, but still...) response from Barrett about the linear title stuff VOW started.

I will now go back to just quietly reading this thread and never commenting because I feel out of my league.
5-stars is perfect. No flaws. The work, the crowd, the atmosphere, the stakes, etc. It doesn't get thrown around lightly. Many have what's called "the five star fear" and never give one out. I went like 10 years without doling out a 5-star. It's like saying something is so good, that you can argue it's the best of all time and meet practically zero resistance.

It's a harder curve, than say, a 5-star movie or album or book. It's intended to be rare. Can't be tossing out the 5-stars all willy nilly. You can lose your nerd cred that way. If you slap the 5 on something, people are going to watch, and you better be right.

      Hope that makes sense.

EDIT: **** is considered "great". Anything over 4-stars is generally in the running for Match of the Year most years. ****1/2 or higher is a serious MOTY contender practically any year.

Warner pretty much answered it. When you give it five stars, its gotta be FIVE FUCKIN STARS. I'm a bit more liberal than say, Warner, but still, those five stars can't be thrown around. I'm a sucker for a good story being told in the ring with actual plot developments, so I will push something to five if the story is fucking awesome...see: CM Punk v. John Cena @ Money in the Bank a few years ago or Johnny Gargano v. SHINGO last year during WrestleMania Weekend or Davey Richards v. Michael Elgin a few years ago at Showdown in the Sun. Might not be 5-stars to the nerd GenPop, but man, those fuckers hit my sensibilities and I pushed'em up. Anything that brings out my inner mark fan...it gets a big boost.

Everything needs to be right to hit that plateau...and not all of those things are under the performers control. You could have a great in-ring product, but...the announcers suck...or the crowd sits on their hands...or its a mid-card throw-away match (ie: stakes aren't high enough)...and its going to keep it from reaching a certain plateau.

Hogan, Austin AND The Rock kick us off?

The deck's stacked tonight so far.

I love that while Rock and Austin spilt beer all over themselves, Hogan shotgun'd the two he got from the Time Keeper.

Can't wait to see more after seeing that opener.

Wow they starting right off with Bryan and HHH.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

                "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

Can they possibly push Bret/Owen as the best opener in WWE history?

Dunno if it's smart to put the one match EVERYONE wants to see on first.

If it's at least *** or better, it'll be hard to follow.

Also, Triple H looks like a goddamn He-Man villain.

Sasha Banks and Flair's daughter were two of the women in HHH's entrance.

Takes a lot of hard work to get a position as one of Skeletor's personal Throne Bitches.

Looks like Danielson's gonna try to out-wrassle the Game...

Good early start to the match with this feeling-out process.

                                A Sunset Flip-Bomb off the 2nd rope.

                                Criminy.
