The Duncan draft was rigged too. I honestly think that shit always is. Cavs get the #1 pick the year after Lebron leaves? :kobe:

Hell if I know I didn't follow the NBA back then or anything...but I have heard from a lot of Boston fans about them being uber salty with the fixing of that draft lol

A franchise that had never won anything. David Robinson who likely couldve played just sit the rest of the year out and the Spurs have been on a 15 run tear in the top 4 of the west since then. They won multiple titles because of drafting Tim Duncan. San Antonio is so close to Mexico that i'd imagine many Mexican fans cheer for SA by default. It brings in new fans.

Im not completely sold the fix was in on that one, just possible reasons it couldve been.

So the first ever draft lottery(which meant you don't have to be the worst team in the league to get the first pick anymore) when one of the most iconic sports franchises was slumping, and one of the biggest can't miss prospects of all time was entering the draft, with the video of the Knicks envelope being thrown in obviously different than the rest, and a fold on the corner of said envelope?

Yes I am saying the NBA probably rigged it.

Remember Rick Pitino was coach of the Celtics and the C's roster was a mess, Antoine Walker paired with Tim Duncan=fail. Also the Celtics had already experienced tons of success in the past while the Spurs had a superstar in Robinson that couldn't get over the hump.

I'm a Celtics fan but if he came here in '97 his talent would have been wasted. They made terrible decisions during that era, drafting Ron Mercer, trading Billups his rookie year. Trading a young Joe Johnson for nothing.



Duncan and the league were better off with him going to San Antonio.

The best argument against this is he does look into the sphere? when opening and reaching in. And when he grabs the envelope his left hand immediately moves to the folded corner and tries to straighten it out. It's not very deliberate, and probably a reach for the rigged side of the argument.
 
Let's be real here, the NBA does what they want and they have the best chance at altering the outcome over every other sport. David Stern is the most pretentious man in sports, and looks down on that league more than any other commissioner.

He is the law, he does what he wants, and he makes what he wants to disappear, disappear.

The sport is built around superstars, they have superstar rules and regular rules, officials bet on games, etc.

It does not surprise me that they thought they think they could pull a fast one, and they still continue to do it. The NBA is as close to wrestling as any sport can get.

LeBron avoids Toronto, Cleveland gets #1 the year after losing LeBron and the only time small markets won the lottery was when it was foreign players, Bogut and Bargnani.
 
I wish the lottery was rigged. That way, the Knicks wouldn't have completely sucked for a decade.

I guarantee the Hornets will not get the #1 overall pick this year.
